Shocking! DualShock 3 is the #2 seller at Amazon games

Shocking! DualShock 3 is the #2 seller at Amazon games photo
     PS3

I guess it's not really that shocking, right? People are just getting ready to rumble, so to speak.

I will say that the price is right on this Amazon pre-order item. You can nab a DualShock 3 for $49.99 with free shipping. That's saving buyers about $10, seeing as how that price point is $5 less than the MSRP. Perhaps that's why it ranks number two in the videogames division of Amazon.com, just right behind Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

We're still about one full month away from the DualShock 3's release. I didn't think it would make that big of a buzz (excuse the pun) at launch, but this proves me wrong.

PS3 owners, have you already jumped on the vibration bandwagon?

On a side note, I love how Amazon recommended a "Better Together" deal containing the DS3 and Persona 3: Fes for $79.98. It's like they know me!

I pre-ordered my yesterday! I am jealous of you bhive, dvddesign, and -D-! Crazy importers!

I think the whole point of pre-ordering this is lower price and guaranteed unit.

So, out of curiosity, do pre-Dual Shock 3 games have rumble included and it's just not turned on, or is this like the PS1-era, when games prior to the original Dual Shock controller didn't have the option?

Not having a PS3, I haven't kept up too much on the lack of rumble issue.

I just remember purchasing a PS1 and Resident Evil, only having to re-purchase the game later on because I wanted the rumble option.

@zombiekiller13,

They do, anything published by Sony has rumble, and anything made after the launch of the Dualshock3 in Japan does. There are a couple that don't, but will be patched soon. Such as Orange Box.

Fortunately I've been too cheap to buy another controller for my PS3 since I bought it, so I'll buy one of these and it will be my "player 1" while player 2 gets stuck with the flaccid one. There needs to be an advantage to being player 1, right?

Yeah I helped propel that up Amazon's list.

Bought mine from japanvideogames.com about a month ago. The weight is a lot better, it just feels better because of the extra weight added from rumble. While I didn't miss rumble to begin with having it again feels much better.

I love how you said “excuse the pun” in the middle of the post when the first two sentences were both puns. But I love puns, so...nicely done, Dale!

The only reason I haven’t pre-ordered one myself is that I’m poor. Here’s hoping that Amazon keeps offering this deal for a while...

I never understood why they tought it would be fun to play without rumble...

NOW I WILL FINALLY PLAY TWO PLAYER GAMES

Also, screw importing controllers. Only feasible if they're Samba de Amigo maracas.

mistic: I believe they pulled that whole "rumble is last-gen" bullshit because they wanted to hide the fact they illegally copied Immersion's rumble technology and hadn't resolved it.

Is there still no release date for Europe?

I'll have to import if they're not out before Metal Gear Solid 4 is released. Annoyingly, play asia won't ship Sony stuff to England, so I'll have to find some place else.

I had Fenris pick up a pair for me and bhive when I was in Japan last October. I'm glad I did, because if you're like me, I rarely get a second controller. I tell my friends, if you're coming over, bring your own second c0ntroller. They may scoff at this option, but if the option's left to me, I'm buying the shitty 3rd party controller. Now, do you want to use a Dual Shock 3/Sixaxis? Or a shitty NYKO controller?

I found Rumble on the PS2 annoying, as they overdid it on some games, but when it comes back, I'll probably buy two and keep the other two around for company and back-up.

Who cares? I always found it annoying and turned it off unless it actually contributed to gameplay ala Psycho Mantis.

Now a PS3 turbo controller would really worth it.

Fuck, my dad is going to the States from April 3rd to the 9th... I would've bought mine via Amazon if the damned thing would be relased before he left... Guess I'll have to pay the $85 they ask for it in here... :(

Are all of the new games actually going to support rumble? I feel like when rumble was introduced later in the first PlayStation's life cycle it only came to some games. I know it's a much more common feature these days, but are games currently in development supporting rumble?

I kinda want a white one to distinguish my SIXAXIS from my DUALSHOCK 3.

But I don't want to pay the extra cost and shipping damn it!

I need to start picking up spare Sixaxis controllers. I don't care about rumble in games. And they'll probably end up getting difficult to find. And I was so happy with them excluding it this generation. Especially since the controller is wireless now. I don't want something else draining the battery. I can't think of a single game I leave rumble on in.
