Shocking: Desmond's tale to continue after AC:Revelations photo

In a twist that is a unsurprising as James Bond not dying at the end of a movie, Assassin's Creed: Revelations' lead writer Darby McDevitt ("It's DeWitt!") has told CVG that the upcoming game "won't answer everything because Desmond's story continues. But fans will definitely know most of the important details of Ezio and Altair's lives, and how they fit into the grand scheme."

The game's creative director Alexandre Amancio has said before that "We're closing all the loops that have been started, [those] that have been left in suspense. And we're going to reveal not only a lot of stuff about the first civilization plotline, but we're also going to conclude the Ezio and Altair storylines." I guess they are not closing all the loops after all.

Still no word on whether or not Ezio will actually survive his appearance in the supposedly final Assassin's Creed game he'll be starring in (they'll need to put him in handheld and mobile games after all), but McDevitt was willing to say that "hardcore fans know the logic of the Animus prevents us from seeing certain things in a character's life -- but we also know how to pull a few devious tricks. Just wait and see."

I hope they'll be using that "logic of the Animus" to explain to the hardcore fans exactly how any Assassin's Creed game is going to work after December 21st, 2012.

I'm still holding out for the expansive Assassin's Creed Collection due out in 2013

I'm sorry, but as much as I loved the story in the first two games, I just can't seem to care anymore. I was really expecting there to be a couple games about different Assassins in different times and then some huge conclusion where you are playing as Desmond and kicking ass.

Three games about Ezio in just a few years is too much of a stretch and detrimental to the kind of potential this franchise has. I really wish they'd stop lallygagging and get this shit back on track.

I expect there to be a full game where you play as only Desmond. A modern day Assassin.

Also, I've played through 2 and Brotherhood and there's nothing that has me in suspense for Ezio. Altier maybe.

Next: Assassin's Creed: The Early Years, where you go from Ezio as a child to Ezio as a teenager.

Man I hate when good entries in a series don't take three years if development...

Definitely looking forward to more AC. Ezio, Desmond, new characters. Any of it.

@manasteel88

As much ad I dig the series, I'll bet AC1 will be nigh unpalatable by the time you get to it :(

Go any further, and people might mistake Ezio as Roxas....

Notice to Ubisoft: Renaissance Italy was cool the first time. The cow is now dead, those udders are now dry.

Try ANY OTHER TIME PERIOD.

please.

Just like TheNephilym, I believe they milked the franchise too much. AC and ACII were good, but Brotherhood, in a storyline sense, could have been DLC or the beginning of AC III. 3 AC games per year (console, DS, PSP) is ridiculous and I can't believe they expect people to buy them all.

Releasing 8 games in a 4 year franchise is retarded

Pfft....I've been with AC from part one to AB:BH, but now I think its time to call quits. There is just so much of the same that I can tolerate. As good as AC is, its getting old.

Ugh ENOUGH with the frikin' carrot-dangling! I just want to play as Desmond in the modern era and stay there! SO many games and they haven't even hit "III" yet, it's like Kingdom Hearts all over again!

I'm very saddened by all of this because I LIKED the Assassin's Creed series. I loved the original, flawed though it was, and I enjoyed the much-expanded sequel. Then, a year later they pushed out Brotherhood, and it felt like they rushed many elements of it to push a game out sooner than necessary. I simply didn't enjoy it as much as its better-thought-out prequels, and now they're releasing ANOTHER one? Unless this one gets astounding scores, I don't think I'm going to waste my money.

There isn't eight Assassins Creed games.

There is the original, 2, Brotherhood, Bloodlines... And then the DS version and the phone versions are pretty much the same game.

Yes, there is five entries, and its too much... But not as bad as you say

At this point, Assassin's Creed III should be nothing BUT Desmond.

And for the people who keep complaining that there are "too many" spinoff games... Be thankful this isn't Kingdom Hearts.

@AtomicBanana: The thing is...Assassin's Creed Revelations is NOT set in Renaissance Italy, it's set in Istanbul/Constatinople, at the peak of the Ottoman Empire.

I am not surprised in the slightest, though I am a little disappointed. I wanted to see some different viewpoints/settings. Or maybe I'm just sick of Desmond. Yeah, that's probably it.

jamlover: actually, it's not a "the world ends in 2012" joke, it's that the INGAME world in Assassin's Creed is supposed to end in december 21st 2012, mind, read again, the IN GAME WORLD.
Assassin's Creed is cool, but I personally find 90% of those conspiracy theories bullshit, and yet they force them so much to fit into the ingame reality.
