Shocker: Xbox 360 sells a lot of systems due to price cut photo

In an absolutely stunning twist, we have just found out that customers like to buy cheap things! Thanks to the string of price cuts in North America, the Xbox 360's sales have more than doubled, in some cases even sextupled -- and stop laughing at that word.

"Coming off the heels of the console price drop last week, Microsoft Xbox 360 sales have surged with retailers reporting over 100% sales lift for all Xbox 360 models compared to the previous weekend," beams Microsoft. "Additionally, retailers are reporting that between Friday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 7, some Xbox 360 models were selling at six times the rate they were the weekend prior."

Hooray for temporary sales spikes! Looks like the price cuts were certainly enough to coax a few floating consumers Microsoft's way. Now ... about that European price cut ...

Well, I am sure a great deal of them are being bought (the cheapest model) so they can play while their RRoD's are being repaired.

Also, mothers finally buying up one for Christmas.

Well, people probably heard about the price drop and then held off on their already-intended purchase in past weeks. So maybe the total number sold would have been the same, y'know?

Still, makes for a good news headline for Microsoft.

I <3 my 360.

Most anyone would buy a console at $200. Good move by Microsoft, just gotta keep the avg consumer from realizing the HDD is pretty important.

Really? You still want to go with the fanboy act? I thought you were coming out of that nonsense.

Good for Microsoft. I hope Sony follows their lead in lowering the price.

I don't think it's fanboy-ism. I mean, Look at his avatar. I for one am plugging in my old dead-drive 360 to play Arcade games while my newer system gets it's RROD repaired.

RRoD is like shit. It happens.

Although, like shitting on the sidewalk, there is no excuse.

Thanks for free repairz!
