Shocker: The PS3 is for playing videogames, says Hirai photo
     Kaz Hirai

Here's an absolute mindblower for you. Sony exec Kaz Hirai has stunned the world by saying that the PlayStation 3's main premise is videogames! I thought it was just an expensive clock, but apparently there are these magic circular relics you can put inside the PS3 to create moving, interactive pictures. The future is here!

This is what the polygonal Sony Computer Entertainment boss has to say:

The thing that I did when I took over last year was to boast the appeal of games themselves ... The main premise of the PS3 is video games. That's the absolutely most important thing that we cannot lose sight of.

The PS3 still has the stigma of being a machine without any games. This is a relatively unfair assessment, but it's true that Sony has been doing more promising than delivering. It is clear that Sony knows what needs to be done in order to make the PS3 a success, but it's still dragging its heels in an industry that moves at light speed.

Here's hoping that LittleBigPlanet is the beginning of a wave of quality titles.

Wave...more like a DELUGE. Not counting PS2 games (Persona 4) and games I'm getting for PC instead (Fallout 3), there are no less than FOURTEEN goddamn PS3 games I want coming out in the next 3 goddamn months!

Geez, this is news to me. But at least the bazillion hours I've been spending playing Ratchet and Clank are finally justified.

The no games argument seem to come from RPG fans (whom are correct). However, outside of that the PS3 has many quality games both disk based and off PSN.

I'm polar of most comments so far. My PS3 has been seeing the most play time and my xbox has been sitting, only seeing a few hour to play some COD4.

Outside of that, I had been soaking up some time playing the SOCOM beta, LBP beta and playing around on warhawk and of course my only sports addication.. NHL 09.

I agree though sony has really needs to step up meeting release dates they tell consumers. See Life With Playstation...which I believe came out 1 1/2 to 2 months after they announced it would be available at the end of july...

People are so misled to believe that Sony's PS3 doesn't have any games. What the hell are those 40+ blurays I have on my shelf?! People who believe this are missing out on on a wide variety of great games.

Uncharted
MGS4
GT5
Ratchet & Clank
Motorstorm
Heavenly Sword
Siren
Pixel Junk Monster / Eden
The Last Guy
Echochrome
Resistance
Folklore
Warhawk
Buzz
Singstar
Wipeout HD
Socom
LBP

I think there's something there for every type of gamer (Well, maybe not JRPG'rs :P). Sorry if I missed any. I didn't even list multiplatform 3rd party releases, That's just primarily 1st/2nd party. Not bad for a year late to the party.

I think the last time I touched my 360 was for Braid/Castle Crasher and all I'm really looking forward to is Gears 2. The Wii... I should have sold it for double when I had the chance.

I personally have found no reason to buy it beyond MGS4. These other games are good, the kind you get if you already have the console, not reasons to get it. I'll feel like a right chump if MGS4 goes to the 360. >.<

I have plenty of games to play. Plenty of games.

I think when you neckbeards whine about how there's no games, what you're really saying is, "there's no Halo, or GoW on it."

Give me a fucking break.

if only mgs4 were the only good game the ps3 has. Theres actually a good list that i'm not going to reproduce here of ps3 games and exclusives which the system has going for it. My biggest disappointment is the lack of trophies which i mostly blame devs for rather than sony, but they do need to step up their PSN content whats there is good but there should be more.
