Just in case you don't like surprises, let it be known that the PlayStation 3 shall continue to be the most expensive console on the market right now. While some think that Sony's refusal to slash prices is a bad idea, the company is adamant that it's doing the right thing, as explained by David Reeves.
When asked if the PS3 would remain the most expensive console this generation, he was quite honest about it: "I think it will, yes.
"I'm not saying there are [not] going to be any price cuts at all in the short term or the medium term. I'm not saying we don't need to do it - we are expensive. It is possible that as the cost [of manufacturing] comes down, we will be able to do it.
"But we're protecting ourselves with a very hard shell to get through the next one or two years of an economic situation. If you're experienced, you know you have to go into that mode - it's like being an armadillo. You have to be hard, and then you will come out when the sun comes out."
Reeves believes that if Sony can hold out for most of 2009, there will be a "massive uplift" when September/October rolls around. Again, Sony is sticking rigidly to its "tortoise and hare" policy, entrenching and holding a defensive position. So far it seems to be keeping the PS3 afloat, but I wouldn't mind seeing the company go out on the attack at some point. Siege warfare is all about time, after all.
Here's hoping the consumers become more confident later this year so Sony can capitalize with a quick price cut. That seems to be the current gameplan, but it's a gameplan that's rooted in uncertainty.
*snickers*
2012. Believe.
They need to fire their economists; this shit ain't ending till late 2010, when we go into massive inflationary mode. Well, that or collapse.
People don't have money. They can't get credit. The last 15 years of growth have been illusory; we can't "get back" to spending like that.
I don't think Sony will go out of business anytime soon, but they do need to figure out how to start making money.
In any case, explain how the PS3 game library is "crap" when 95% of games are available for both Xbox and PS3. Each system has it's own great exclusives. Secondly, calling PSN "awful" is a subjective argument. Each online service has benefits and weaknesses. But both services are 95% functionally equivalent.
Congratulations on making a fanboy argument with no substance.
Congratulations for making a fanboy argument with no substance.
Plenty of people disagree with you about MGS4 and LBP. Killzone 2 looks like it will be pretty good too. I find it ironic that an Xbox fanboy is making the "generic FPS" argument against the PS3. It's funny how you fail to mention Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, Warhawk, Resistance 2, Ratchet & Clank Future, or MotorStorm. I'm sure you will badmouth all of those games simply because they don't exist on your platform of choice, but plenty of people think those are great games.
A handful of multi-plat games are "better" on the 360, but they still run great on the PS3. There are some games that run better on the PS3, so you don't get any extra points here.
Lastly, your "PSN is slow" argument is just silly. I never have any problems, neither do millions of other people. I've never had any lag issues with multiplayer, and I download demos and games just fine. Maybe you need a faster internet connection.
You can't make subjective arguments and pretend they have a factual basis. Not a single one of your arguments is backed by facts. That is why you fail miserably. Also, try coming up with your own one liner.
So what multiplatform games run better on PS3? As for my slow Internet I have verizon fios. It's so slow that XBL seems to run faster than PSN. Right..
You are obviously the type of fanboy who would rather badmouth the competing platform (and it's games) rather than admit that you might be missing out on some things. You are so convinced you are right, that no amount of factual evidence will change your mind. Your default position on any PS3 feature or game will be the negative position. I'm actually amazed you admitted to liking Uncharted.
In any case, whether or not a game is "good" is an entirely subjective argument. I don't know how many times I have to tell you, but subjective arguments mean squat because they are not based on fact. If you compare game libraries (based on game availability, not on what you consider a "good" game), most games are cross platform and each console has a roughly equivalent amount of exclusives. Neither platform has a clear advantage when it comes to game libraries. Keep repeating your fanboy argument all you want, it doesn't make it true.
Secondly, maybe PSN only seems slow for you because you have already established in your mind that you think the PS3 is a shitty platform. Therefore, by default you have convinced yourself that things are worse than they actually are.
In any case, I expect your argumentum ad nauseum to continue, so I won't be replying until you can bring up something new and based on fact.
We've gone through 4 Xboxes, 3 since we got a PS3. That's good enough reason for me to not buy an Xbox, and I don't mind missing out on Star Ocean 4 for it either. And I never got to finish Lost Odyssey because the system sucks balls. Other than that I'm not really interested in the Xbox's exclusives because they're, for the most part, pew pew games. They're base and appeal to the lowest common denominator.
And to top it off, I just hate Microsoft, I hate how they do business, and I especially hate how they're ripping off my fellow gamers with shoddy hardware.
