Shock: Nintendo wants more people to buy Nintendo products photo

You might think that Nintendo pretty much holds complete dominance over the US market, but according to Nintendo exec and part-time cult leader Cammie Dunaway, the Big N is not dominant enough. Nintendo wants the Wii and the DS Lite to work together in a bid to crush American spirits and get its hardware into every home.

"We think that there’s huge untapped potential for the DS Lite," stated the woman who can bend light with her smile. "Because when you’ve got only one in every five households in the U.S., compared to one in every two in Japan, it says there’s potential."

"You’ve seen some of the work we’ve done this year with celebrities, that we’re bringing a lot of new consumers in to the DS. So I think there’s opportunity for both of them to coexist for some period of time."

I do love the wording of that: Only one in five, as if that's a pathetic amount. Out there somewhere, a PSP marketing executive is shaking his fist and shouting "LIMITED SYMPATHY!"

Make products cheaper to buy at $ 19.99 and below price. Give me back my money because purchase each N64 ($70) game. Release only good games than shovel ware junk.

Niero look what you made Lord Gloom do. I hope you're proud.

RE: the story- Reggie said something similar with regards to why the DSi isn't yet coming to America despite Neil Diamond's ardent wishes. DS Lite sales have slowed in Japan while penetration (lol) in the US hasn't reached a saturation point yet.

Also, my mates on another forum drew the comparison between Cammie and Sarah Palin and I shuddered. It's too good of a comparison for comfort.

No way. Nintendo want people to buy their products? I'll read this after taking a look at this National Geographic special. They apparently discovered that water is wet.

That's the best pix you ever posted! I never expect to get a hard-on at Destructoid. Except when you post a Gears of War 2 story.

I think what Nintendo wants to do is reach Microsoft Monopoly levels - drive every other console maker out of the market.

If you want to play PC games, you have to go with Microsoft.

If you want to play console or handheld games you'll have to go with Nintendo.

Terrifying indeed.

Hm. From a business standpoint this makes sense.

Where the hell did you find the picture for this?

Honestly, what keywords did you use for Google Image Search?

Only one in five? How many more millions of people live here than in Japan?

Those numbers are skewed, because everyone knows that gamers in Japan have to buy every color of DS. So there is not one in every two households. It is just one guy has enough to his whole block.

in other news nintendo turns its DS into a cheep and sucky slow ass PDA by adding a camera mp3 crap, and software that has to be thrown onto sucky dscarts.

PDA's A device everybody Who is with it has had at least one of for years and does the exact same thing as the DS and more but better and faster.

I mean really who does not own at least 1 pda by now? even my old one from over 5 years ago can pump out DS like stuff and run gameboy and NES emulators and crap.

Nintendo is not a giant corporation... it is an EVIL giant corporation. Now I have to protect myself from swaths of Nintendo corporate execs selling DSs door-to-door I presume, like Girl Scouts.
