One of the things that is awesome about Destructoid The best thing about Destructoid is the amount of awesome that is contained in the community. Case very much in point, Edco's recent blog revealing the sprite artwork he did for iPhone game Jack Bivouac: Ace Yeti Trapper. Over at his blog Edco takes you through the how and why of what he went through in order to create a nipple laden, ass flashing, pixelated yeti.
Having just played through Cave Story I am literally getting an erection almost anytime I see pixelated art. It's definitely a dying breed in gaming, but if you dig around you can find some really amazing stuff being done, and it really should be supported. I'm not saying you should buy Ace Yet Trapper (evidently it IS now at a discounted price) since I have no idea how good the game is, but at least you know some real passion went into it.
