Shadow, for the set piece he played in Sonic Adventure 2 was a decent enough character. It's when they brought him back to life (through the glory of plot holes) and had him forget everything he had learned at the end of SA2 that he just became the useless angst driven character he is now.
There were people who liked it.
And both teams failed.
When they made demon souls it was a game that you couldn't really tell was Japanese. And that is all. Make games that aren't so unbearingly Japanese with stupid anime designs, fetishes and dumb stories and dialogue. It's not about being Western it's about avoiding being Japanese in at leasts it's more visible apects.
Shadow the hedgehog game design concept was actually good
... too bad it was a complete bastardization of execution and use of the sonic franchise.
It is only one up by SONIC 06 in terms of travesty in lite of how to make a good franchise 101 design.
though at the same time I am saddened because i know there are reasons why publishers come to such stupid ideas of what the west wants
In any case, I love that the new excuse for the Japanese making lackluster games is "Well, we thought the west would like it." Really puts it into perspective how in touch they are with the fanbase.
There is no way they played this game and thought to themselves "I'm sure the West will love this!"
It was more like "This budget game will sell because it has a Sonic Character in it! Screw actually putting effort into it!"
>Nice Try. Don't try to blame us for your miserable failures, Japan
What these gents said.
