I bet you never thought of the big beasties of Shadow of the Colossus as cute. Probably not sexy? Definitely not horny and...perky. Moe? Surely not.
These transformed versions from this doujinshi are all the above. All the beasts have been moe-fied by artist Shigatake, who has released some sample images from the work (more in our gallery below). Breasts have definitely been added. The little eye shot teases (above) are killing me. Call me sick, but I want to see the full images. Lots of...imagination went into these transformations.

Apparently anything that is sexually suggestive (which here it isnt if you knew more about the art style) ruins everything that is good about something.
Its just that i am used to this stuff.
Also, there is no way you could have sex with any of those ladies. Crawl across their various erogenous zones maybe, but try anything more "serious" than that I don't think you'd survive.

It's kind of both. The imagination that it took is awesome but the concept itself is a little odd.
It's like taking a 10 year old boy's face... adding it to a caricature of male body with oversized shoulders, musculature... and a dick that hangs down to his knees. That just seems kind of gross and I don't get why a female image can be so distorted and deemed attractive.
meh.. then again, most anime styled guys look like girls to me anyway.

The participants weren't told the ages, or even that on some pictures it was the same person aged/younged(this a word?) (and don't ask me too much about the methodology, I probably read it about a year ago).
I think they said it was some sort of base animal instinct where young implies fertility. And keep in mind that at age 15, our ancestors were porbably around half their life expectancy. I guess just one of those genetic things we cant get rid of (like the damn appendix!).
Not really on your comparison for what it would be like if it were male, since masculinity and femininity appeal in very different ways. Also you can't see why a cute girl with big tits would be attractive? Really?
Men and women are attracted to different qualities in the opposite sex. Maybe if the distorted male you described was a lawyer driving a Cadillac with a great sense of humor and an vocal obsession with monogamy, you'd suddenly find him more attractive.
Men are attracted to young, sexually mature women. Things like breast size are signs of sexual maturity and fertility.

I'm not a parent, but if I had a little girl I think I would be horrified by the sexualization of this type of imagery.
Again though... I just don't really seem to "get" anime styled art - I think it's they eyes or something - it kind of creeps me out.

To be fair I think a young girl is easier to find attractive than a young boy. Just something about girlish faces.
All in all I have to agree with you but to each his own in a weird sort of way I guess. I agree it's kind of creepy but then again maybe it's just something not everyone gets. Attraction is fickle like that.
Why they chose SotC disturbs me more than the age of these characters.
I started when I was 12. My sister started when she was 9. (There were drama issues in elementary school because she was already "developing")
Puberty is the transition from childhood to adulthood. A part of adulthood is being sexually matured and able to reproduce. Through the genes of any species that ever made it past a couple generations came a common trait that when sexual maturity is reached and children can be produced, they will be.
Humans, cats, dogs, birds, fish... every species has a drive inside to mate and reproduce. As seltzermx has stated, we innately find younger specimens more appealing.
So "pre-pubescent" would be, widely regarded, before age 10. But here's another thing to consider, it is much harder to tell the age of an asian woman just by looking at her face. I've seen many who looked barely legal, but were in their 30s. It's more common for Japanese women to look very youthful for their age.
Now combine all factors in with the fact that the art style (moe) is a popular one in Japan and... well here's what you get. Young looking girls with overly attractive bodies. It's really no different than the more western tropes.
I think you're just reading too far into it with western "values" to be honest. =D
@TheLegendaryMan: I know fucking plenty about anime. I was a huge "otaku" in high school. I know that tons of Japanese artists have unhealthy obsessions about under-aged looking girls in skimpy outfits. This guy seems to be one of them. So don't act like you're so much smarter than me. Ass.

Never really thought much about really, but i might guess that the reason anime-fans in particular can find it attractive is due a different perception. In anime, it is actually pretty typical for young adults and older teenagers to have a similar appearance to what you what you call prepubescent; particularly when they are meant to fit the "moe" type of girl, as they are practically characterized by youthful appearance. furthermore, prepubesant girls that appear in these same series are generally portrayed as being shorter and much less developed. This in turn could adjust their perception of what "looks underage" in anime...
Essentially, you are subconsciously comparing those anime girls to REAL girls, where as Anime-fans subconsciously compare them to other anime girls... you look at the picture and say "she looks like pre-pubescent girl with big tits", while an anime fan will say "she doesn't look THAT young"
anime girls and real girls are just too different for anime fans to carry the same standards... i mean if you asked me to draw a picture of yourself in an animestyle, you might say "why'd he draw me that young", and i'd respond "what do you mean?"
so i'd say it's likey just a matter of personal perspective... you can't see the attraction because you have a different perception
Also as for anime guys looking like girls... i think japan just as a thing for pretty boys and thus draws them like that on purpose; girls want pretty boys and boys want to be pretty boys to get girls...

I'm conflicted about this. I'm no JCulture expert or anything but I recently saw an expose on Japan and it's sexual habits including what attracts Japanese women. They specifically asked how they felt about pretty boys over tough looking guys and they almost all said that pretty guys weren't sexually appealing to them.
Now I don't know what to think.
I think I'll stick to Eastern European and English culture.
