By all accounts, the verdict is that Shadow Complex is a pretty damn good game. It brought the experience and production values of a fully-fledged retail game into a downloadable title and earned well-deserved praise for doing so, even in spite of recent controversies. The game can also add another notch to its bedpost, since it's just become the biggest selling single-player XBLA game in history.
Shadow Complex has been bought 200,000 times since the game's launch on August 19, providing that a game can be awesome, new and still sell a bunch of copies. Major publishers ought to take serious note of that.
"We're really flattered by all the great things fans and critics have said about Shadow Complex," says Michael Capps of Epic Games. "Chair's goal was to make a gorgeous game with tons of action, addictive challenges, and a great sense of exploration -- and they knocked it out of the park. We’re so proud to have Shadow Complex join the Epic portfolio. If you haven’t already downloaded it on Xbox LIVE, give the demo a try."
Well done to Shadow Complex. Success well deserved!
On August 19, Chair Entertainment, a subsidiary of Epic Games, Inc, and Microsoft Corp. delivered the next evolution in downloadable games with the launch of “Shadow Complex™” exclusively on Xbox LIVE Arcade®.
Officially recorded as the most downloaded single-player title in Xbox LIVE Arcade history to date, more than 200,000 people purchased “Shadow Complex” in the first week of its release.
In addition to exceeding sales expectations, “Shadow Complex” continues to garner outstanding critical acclaim. Awarding the game a perfect 5/5 score, Gamespy said "the game offers plenty of reason to play it more than once" and advises their readers that "this is a game not to be missed." “Shadow Complex” also received a perfect 5/5 from G4TV, which commented “you really cannot have more immediate, satisfying fun than this game right now.” In its 9.4/10 review, IGN states they "found it very difficult to stop playing" and recommended gamers "go buy this game."
“Congratulations to Chair Entertainment and Epic Games for creating an outstanding game,” said Scott Austin, director of digitally distributed games at Microsoft. “As the capstone title of the second annual Summer of Arcade program, “Shadow Complex” has raised the bar for downloadable games. We’re proud to offer such high-quality content on Xbox LIVE Arcade.”
"We're really flattered by all the great things fans and critics have said about Shadow Complex," said Dr. Michael Capps, president of Epic Games. "Chair's goal was to make a gorgeous game with tons of action, addictive challenges, and a great sense of exploration – and they knocked it out of the park. We’re so proud to have Shadow Complex join the Epic portfolio. If you haven’t already downloaded it on Xbox LIVE, give the demo a try."

But seriously an Ender's Game... Game centered around the Zero-G Battle would be pretty cool, like a team play Zone of Enders.
For an XBLA title very much so. It is also one of the better games I have played this year as well.
I hope Chair makes another great game following the success of this.
It's way reminiscent of Metroid, to say the least. That's definitely a good thing - lots of cool battles, lots of stuff to explore, lots of secret bonuses, lots of powerups. But at those times when you pick up another powerup that seems ripped straight from the Metroid world, you might find yourself wishing for a bit more originality.
But do not get me wrong. Shadow Complex challenges Braid for my personal appointment of the most worthwhile original XBLA game out there. The game flows well, and as previously stated, it really is tough to put down - if you like Metroidvanias.
Oh wow another moron who doesn't know wtf he's talking about. Yawn.
You have never played Shadow Complex in your life.
Seriously, between this and Mega Man 9, Konami, at the very least, needs to come up with a much better excuse than "We will when people want it".
You've got the whip Iga. Get crackin'!
Than again - I'm no journalist.
You know, I don't want to sound like some dude who doesn't give a shit, but...
I don't give a shit.

You didn't read the book did you?
Advent Rising - Hyped too much, didn't live up to expectations.
Undertow - Getting there, a better effort than before.
Shadow Complex - If this game is anything to go off of, Chair has a very bright future ahead of them in terms of game design. Can't wait to see what else they can come up with.
Way to read someone's commentary w/ personal bias on a book you've never read. And if you have read it, I really feel sorry for you. Because that's not what the book is about in any way shape or form. I've read the book 4 times, I should know.
I can't wait for their next game (The Ender's Game battle room one). Mustard has said before that that's their next game they'll start once the "current one" (the article was 2008) was finished.
I'm also really hoping for an Advent Rising 2, hopefully w/ Epic's help to make it less buggy (wait...judging by gears 2, that's not a good thing), I just don't know what happened to the rights to the universe when Majesco died.
And yet shallow, meathead-centric circle jerks like Gears of War and GTA4(don't get me wrong, I love GTA games- 4 just happens to be the worst of them) command $60 price tags and sell like fucking hot cakes.
This is why I hate everyone too young to have lived through anything pre-PlayStation.
