Sexy 2D Wii sidescroller shall be on show at TGS photo

2D sidescrolling should have died a miserable death by now, thanks to modern hardware capabilities and the demand for greater graphics.

But recent classics like Castle Crashers and the surefire upcoming hit Mega Man 9 are keeping things alive, and I couldn't be happier for that. While this won't set the gaming world on fire like those two titles, VanillaWare's sidescrolling Wii game, Oboro Muramasa Youtouden, is sure to garner some specialist attention.

The Odin Sphere team's lovely looking title has been incredibly quiet, but it's become clear that the game is not dead as some had imagined and that a playable build will be found at the Tokyo Game Show. I shall make a special note to keep an eye out for this at TGS, since any and all sidescrolling action is good ... unless it's bad.

I love these 2D High Rez games, Odin Sphere was awesome. What I don't understand is why they would release this for wii, these hand drawn sprites would look 100% better in HD. One of the reason I think that 2D visuals have come back (mostly through PSN / XBLA) is because the blocky "staircase" textures are pretty much dead and now you can have high quality animation in sprite form on HD systems, and it looks great. I hope more things like this comes to PS3/360 as full games, not just DLC through XLBA/PSN.

Holy shit, I love Odin Sphere!!

But I must say that I'm disapointed that this isn't coming to any HD capaple consoles...They should sell it for 20$ on PSN/XBLA. If they did that they would sell far more copies than on the Wii..

was wonderin what happened to it. Seeing they REALLY didn't say anything on it and this game was announced not long after Wii's launch.

Another Wii game that looks great. I hope more Wii owners pick it up, since many still missed Odin Sphere.

Not point in making this HD, when all its imperfections of such sprites will be more visable. I'm sure there's a fear that if such 2D visual become too HD, that they'll look to much like animated cardboard cutouts.

Either, this game still look wondeful, bring it on.

What a waste. Why don't the devs put it on a real console? Give yourself a chance to sell some units.

Wow, works for me. I still haven't played Odin Sphere, but that game already has me interested.

I hope TGS is better for the Wii than E3 was.

FINALLY! I was worried that this project had gone by the wayside.

@pedrovay: Odin Sphere is absolutely worth the time to play, highly recommended.
