So, Nick and myself each received a burned, severed doll's head in the mail. With E3 right around the corner, this kind of nonsensical paraphernalia is quite common, but our powers of deduction leads us to believe this particular head is a bit more interesting than the usual garbage.
The head was sent to us by one Rebecca Jorden. Any Aliens fan worth his salt (and being fat, this Aliens fan's got a LOT of salt) would recognize the name as belonging to Newt, the sole survivor of the Xenomorph attack on LV-426. She carried a doll head around with her during the film. Then she got killed off for no reason in Alien 3, which was hilarious.
So, it's definitely Aliens related. With rumors of a DS game and confirmation of a Creative Assembly game, it could be either of those two projects, but we reckon it's Aliens: Colonial Marines. The Gearbox-led title is canonically related to the Aliens film for a start, and the Creative Assembly title seems to only be in its infancy, not to mention they keep using the Alien title, rather than Aliens (there is a big, very nerdy, difference). As for the DS one -- I don't think they'd hype that with plastic heads.
[Edit: The cat's out of the bag, since other online writers decided to say that they were seeing the game at E3. I'm not saying WE have an appointment and were trying to make it sound like we didn't in order to not break the secret. We definitely didn't do that.]
I will treasure it always!
A) The Jimquisition always stars a plastic doll head.
B) Please don't fuck the neck-hole.

And I know the Rev. Burch had a hand in that somewhere.
Oh, Alien 3.
Haha, you know, as much shit as Alien 3 gets, looking back I think it was a pretty solid film. Yeah, the CGI is crappy and there are a few weird story decisions, but the aesthetic was excellent, the religious prison colony setting was actually rather cool, and there were some fun Alien murder moments.
@ mrandydixon - I quite like Alien 3.....
@ Fugly Duckling - You and me both :) "Stop yer grinnin' and drop yer linnen"
If you don't take it seriously, Resurrection is indeed a fun film. Their biggest problem was relying on Ripley again. Otherwise, there are again some cool Alien scenes and aesthetics going on. Not to mention, I Brad fucking Dourif.
The reliance on Ripley is why I watch the movies.
I mean, they could have fully anchored Resurrection on Winona Ryder instead. Now doesn't that notion just make you all suddenly very stabby?
An interesting point, but conversely, they *could* instead have anchored it around Ron Perlman, which would obviously be the best thing ever. It's a gamble worth taking!

I was mostly kidding... mostly.
:)
Seriously, though, I do agree that it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. I, too, liked the story, and I think the setting and (some of) the characters were pretty badass.
My only real complaint was that they killed off Newt and Hicks without so much as blinking. After all the shit those two went through to survive LV-426, their fate just didn't seem fair.
@PrivateIronTFU
You, sir, are fucking nuts.
Hey now! No need for that kind of talk. I just happen to hate Fight Club, that's all.
For example:
I said, "sir".

My fav:
Looks like a metal thigh boner.
And by "I", I mean "boner".
Alien Resurrection: Yes, a disappointing fourth movie in so many ways, but it's always been one of the better-looking ones, in terms of set design, imo. In fact, the only person to come out of that debacle with any dignity still intact was the production designer.
Wonder what the film would've turned out if Fincher had full creative control.
In other news, whoa can't wait for the game.
Saw this doll head on another site and instantly I knew it was familiar. But they never gave the name which is a dead giveaway.
All I want is a solid modern Aliens game. It should be so simple to pull off but somewhere they can't deliver the goods. With Gearbox behind this, I have hope.
Also, I quite liked Alien 3. t wasn't close to the first 2 but it wasn't bad either. The death of Newt and Hicks pissed off a bit at first.
Resurrection was mindless fun but I'd rather not think of it as canon tbh. We won't speak of AVP 1 and 2...
