For the last few months it seems that the entire world has been comprised of two groups of people: those who love Halo 3 and those who hate it (despite the vast majority of their ranks who have yet to play it). The above clip is Adam Sessler's (of G4's X-Play) take on the entire debate, and honestly I agree with him. His points are valid, his shirt is an agreeable color and the apparent handful of barbiturates he took before the video give him a really mellow, relaxed appearance, despite his impassioned feelings on the subject.
Two thumbs up, fun for the whole family!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
On a side note, there is actually a third group people regarding Halo 3: those of who just don't care.
Yeah, I was far from "dancing around" when I eat the two scarabs. Besides the scarab fights and SLIGHTLY diferent levels, I had played the game before.
Either he is a halo fanboy, paid to say that from M$, or I just didn't care for Halo 3.
Getting back to The Orange Box which is WOW!
God I love Sessler.
I'm sorry, but I don't agree with him at all. Halo isn't a bad series per say, but it's also nothing more than an overrated mediocre pile of crap. The Halo series sells solely on multiplayer and that pretty much it really. The first one was the only one that didn't and that only sold because it was new and shiny. Games like BioShock and especially Half-Life 2 rape those games.
Not in Halo-Hate but Sessler said Halo got it right, then give that game a 10 and give these less since it is more of the same of an already made game. Not saying it is 5 or 6, but it isn't 10.
/Halo-Hate
I will give him that, however, hasn't this 'revolutionairy concept' became redundant theory at this point? Evolution usually eliminates redundancy, however, the evolution in gaming is creating nothing but more and more redundancy.
'the contorl scheme has yet to be beaten by any other shooter on a console out there'
Someone should introduce him to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The only part lacking from Metroid Prime 3 that doesn't make it as great as Halo 3 is that it is lacking online play. Rather dissapointing, however, I look for the drop dead sexy samus to be making her appearence in her own first party title sooner than everyone thinks.
'I was dancing around like an idiot'
You always look like an idiot, so what does it matter?
Sesslers thoughts and opinions on Halo3 are about as impressive as that of the average teenage fanboy. How Dtoid deemed this news/frontpage worthy is beyond me.
he just wants so loooove graaaavy....mmmmmm-mmmm, damn fine love gravy!
Way to go.
All he is saying is that it is an awesome game, in fact he specifically mentioned that it wasnt perfect.
I wouldn't give it a 100%, but not many sites have. In fact, I have seen many games get over 90% which deserve it way less than Halo does. To say Halo 3 is overrated, you would have to say most of the 90%+ games released are too.
Give me Half-Life over Halo any day.
I just thought of something, though. How would dual-wielding translate? Hmm...
Ah whatever, Prime 3 controls FTW.
Get my point?
I don't know what websites your talking about, but every website and magazine I read have given it a perfect rating.
And to tell you the truth, no game deserves a perfect score. Every game has it's problems and flaws.
If any game(s) deserve a perfect rating it's games like pac-man and Tetris because there is no way you can improve those games and they have stood the test of time
Im sure dual wielding of weapons would work like single weapons. Just use the wiimote to aim. However, if you are talking swords/blades/knifes I would guess that they would set it up to chose if you are right or left handed (wiimote hand) and just make the nun-chuck hand a stab or slash hand. The more complex moves be carried out with the wiimote, and and nunchuck hand be simple twitch moves.
I agree with you on that. One reason why I can't stand Halo is because If I say I don't like it to somebody who plays it, they'll look at me like I killed their entire family and then raped their dead bodies all while making them watch. Goddammit if I don't like it I don't friggin like it people!
People like halo, some a jerks and internet tough guys, some are sane, rational people. Let the people who enjoy it, enjoy it and enjoy hearing news about it. I don't fucking care about Metroid 3, but I wont troll a fucking post about it because of my irrational hate for it
Do you ever read Destructoid? They gave it an 8.5.
And can people stop complaining about games getting 10's, everyone knows there will never be a perfect game without a flaw, should everyone change their grading scale from 1 to 9.9? Giving a 10 doesn't mean it is absolutley perfect, it means it a superior game worth standing out from the crowd.

I only see 3 perfects, one of them from the official mag ;P
If you do a search, you will see many games that have received higher average ratings. Wind Waker, MGS2, RE4, GTA3, many of which I consider to be worse than Halo 3, but you heard alot less whinging about them when they were released.
It is the nature of the industry. Reviewers always go overboard. No one wants to hear bad news - websites want you to feel good after visiting, so you will come back. Its basic psychology. My problem is that I can't visit a website without hearing some guy give his 2c about why Halo sucks, so it's nice to hear a rational viewpoint from others once in a while, you know?
While psycho Halo fans are definitely guilty as charged concerning your accusation, I have found they are not the only psycho fans out there. When I tell people I don't care for WOW, Madden, etc., I find myself with the same looks you described. Just because something is mainstream and successful doesn't mean that EVERYONE has to enjoy it.
Anyway I never owned an Xbox and never got really into the Halo series but, did he say it was the first major success for FPS on console? What about goldeneye or Perfect dark for N64?
Is halo honestly that good? I just... I get bored of shooting things faster than other people I guess.
I geuss I missed that article.
and I can see where you're coming from with perfect ratings, but I still remain adamant that any halo game doesn't deserve to be in that category or anwhere near it.
Also, Mr. Sessler is one of my heroes. Has been for a while. He's really cool when he speaks his mind and not read silly shit from a telepromtor... though some of that is funny too.
I'm not saying that halo is the only game like this, I'm just saying that it's one of the things that piss me off about it
I'm sure if a good creative dev team got ahold of a FPS franchise that would call for dual wield shooting, they could probably come up with some type of locking system that would allow you to fire on different targets with each firearm. For example go into a dual target mode of some type, lock on with one firearm, then free aim with the second(wiimote hand). I don't know how effective/realistic that would really be, it is a thought however.
I do worry now for the FPS abilities on the wii, how will 3rd party developers live up to the controls of MP3?
That was my reaction too. First successful FPS on a console? Halo?
That is a bit of a stretch. Halo 1 was a good game that perfected FPS control on the Xbox, Halo 2 perfected online play for a console FPS, and therefore Halo 3 had little to do, but the game actually over-delivered with the Forge mode, and with the Replay feature, and with the ability to queue up downloads from Bungie.net, etc.
