The "eye-popping" part of the headline was a most hilarious joke, since that's actually what happens in the video. Oh, how we laughed.
In an age of cover-systems, health regen and endless gimmickry, it's always refreshing to see an unpretentious, simple, good-old fashioned violence festival, and Serious Sam 3: BFE looks like it'll seriously deliver. Just you, some guns, and an endless supply of bastards to kill.
As the tagline says, "No cover. All Man." You don't get classier than that.
THAT was a sexy fucking trailer. I loved the split-screen co-op in the original Serious Sam (and was incredibly angry when they got rid of it for the second game), so as long as the 16-player co-op I read about really happens, I'm so onboard for this it's not even funny.
Unlike that headline. That headline was fucking funny.
I'm not 100% sold on how this is looking. Serious Sam started off as a homage to titles like Doom and Quake. This is looks more like they're taking a step towards another Call of Duty clone direction while trying to keep the original style.
i love it. duke nukem is a parody of all those fps action shooters while serious sam is a parody of duke nukem. someone needs to somehow parody serious sam.
also, @Woopman how is that a humble opinion again? also, after my last comment and the recent capcom VS and X stuff, how awesome would it be to have some kind of duke/sam crossover?
I'm just as sensitive about the CoD clone army as anyone, but it's getting fucking ridiculous when someone starts making that accusation about Serious Sam. That's about the stupidest thing I've ever read.
Anyway, this is a day one purchase. Looks fantastic, and I've loved everything from Croteam so far. Also enjoyed the little dig at Duke Nukem with the eyeball thing, as I'm certain that's the intention there. The SS series has a bit of a running gag poking fun at the Duke, and it's always hilarious.
Im looking forward to this, SS / Quake style of FPS is what gaming on the PC is all about, lots of baddies onscreen that you must kill and dodge very quickly. Makes a nice change to the slower paced tactical shooters. Spending a week playing SS1 without abusing quicksave is like going to an FPS boot camp.
I hope Sam doesnt get too overshadowed by the Duke and sells well. Both IPs deserve to make money and not fade away.
