September sees Neo Geo games on Virtual Console ... in Japan photo
     Virtual Console

SNK has confirmed that Neo Geo games will officially be coming to the Japanese Virtual Console this September. The new format will cost gamers 900 Wii Points per title, which is $190 less than they used to cost at retail. What a steal!

The first title will be available on September 11, with the 2D fighter Fatal Fury. Later in the month, Japanese gamers can expect to see both World Heroes and Magician Lord. Gamers in other parts of the world can just cry about how they don't have Fatal Fury, World Heroes, and Magician Lord on their Virtual Console.

This definitely a nice start to what could be an awesome collection of titles for Nintendo's Shop Channel. What Neo Geo games are on your Virtual Console wish list? Garou: Mark of the Wolves for me, please. How many wolves must die?

So...when can we hear an American announcement? And how about releasing some of those VC games you've had related for months, Nintendo?

@ lowercaseluke: Hey, if you feel like buying 5 Neo-Geo games, you can use the left-over points to buy an NES game like Super Mario Bros. or Urban Champion! Fun fun fun!

The Japanese have it pretty good right now for downloads. If you look at the downloadable games on the Playstation Network, you will see several King of Fighters games in there along with other classics. Oh and bluemeep, I think one of them is 98.

Garou is really high up in the want list... Also Last blade 1 and 2 would be very very awesome. Any of the King of Fighters is good.

I had a heads-up about this in a games magazine a while ago about the SNK/VC link. I think 900 points is good for games of Neo-Geo quality. :D

It would be incredibly lame, however highly probable, that the motion of cockblocking everyone but Japan from these awesome games would be in order. In the meantime, I'll continue to happily buy the reviewer-abused PS2 SNK compilations.

Windjammers would be EPIC! Good grief that game was underrated. It was really one of the Neo-Geo's best games, and that's no lie.

Garou: Mark Of The Wolves FTW!! I luv this game ever since it came out and only wish more people played this game. Its on par w/ SFII 3rd Strike and I only wished that game would recieved a proper release on the PS2 sine it did came out for the same system in Japan. Well, I just stick my DC copy til then. BUSTER WOLF!!!!!!!!!!!
