Sensible World of Soccer pulled from Xbox Live photo

Developer Codemasters threw out the red card on recent Xbox Live Arcade release Sensible World of Soccer, sending it off to have a bug fixed.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, an incorrect version of the title was made availble on Live, and it seems that this version disconnects gamers while playing online. A corrected version is on its way soon; any users that have already downloaded the game will have to delete it and re-download when the correct version is released.

The game was released this week for 800 Microsoft Points.

Worth mentioning also:

This game uses technology of Massive Incorporated ("Massive") that enables in-game advertising. Massive may collect your Internet protocol address and other anonymous information for the purposes of transmitting and measuring in-game advertising. Massive does not store or use this information for discovering your identity.

Presumably they forgot to actually test the thing as all their efforts were put into were implementing this excellent feature.

I was looking forward to playing this, love Sensi (still play the Euro Champions version on Super NES).

From the sounds of things, the version that was supposed to go up is going through more red tape to make sure it is the correct version, so here's hoping tomorrow I can take "Highbury" (if it was updated, that would be Emirates, eurgh) to Man Utd and whoop their arses!

I've never heard Soccer described as "sensible" before. What's so sensible about it?

I love my 360 but Microsoft has this long approval process then the games come out broken anyway, just like the system. This is such a bunch of bullshit. The best system this generation and I can't even keep a fucking working system in my house, and even if I can most of the games are broken. God I'm pissed.

Eschatos: You may also like Sensible Train Spotting and Sensible Golf. The name derives from the developers Sensible Software who you may know better for Cannon Fodder and Mega-Lo Mania.

Not that you care, as you were just wanting to take a cheap shot at football as a sport.

The whole console race/war is far from over, but as of right now Xbox is the best by a healthy margin. FF13 and Metal Gear Solid 4 might make things pretty interesting, though.

Two games cant change the face of console domination. SONY are losing just because Microsoft got their console out before them, no amount of games will change the fact developers will favor a console they have had longer to develop for. PS3 is still a very good if not better next-gen console but its gotta catch up on a year and a half its missed out on.

I WANT SENSIBLE SOCCER!! FUCKING JERKS MESSING IT UP!!!

@ShadowXOR

So one game having technical issues means that most of its games are broken?

From what I've seen, the 360 has had some absolutely stellar games in its first two years, probably more so than any console in history!

@RivaOni:

If you're into XBLA as much as I am you would know that multiple full games and demos have been pulled due to bugs. Also many games have online/leaderboard/other functions that are still broken and have not been patched.

system wars! 360 is the best console, Wii is the best party thingy and PS3 is the best value at $399, too bad about the games on it so far.

I heard about this coming out about two years ago. It's a remake (or is it?) of an old game. It has simple 2D graphics.

How can you screw something like this up?

It would probably help if so many 360 developers weren't ex-PC developers. Everyone knows how well bugs are tolerated in the PC biz, so long as developers blame it on bad drivers or some other BS.

It's believed that the problem isn't to do with Codemaster's code for the game itself, but a problem between the game and XBox Live considering the problem only happens when you try to go online.
