Because y'know, that's technically when the sengoku period ends. For all the liberties Capcom's Warriors-killer series has taken with Japanese history, its core storyline has stuck somewhat faithfully to What Actually Happened.
The Last Party, which is a theatrical anime movie due this year, is based on the plot of Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, and details the conflict between Mitsunari Ishida and Ieyasu Tokugawa, which ends at the epic Battle of Sekigahara.
Since Sekigahara was pretty much where the sengoku period ended in real history, The Last Party an appropriate subtitle. If you haven't yet, watch the trailer for clips of Masamune Date speaking bad Engrish.
Seriously Capcom, consider doing like Dynasty Warriors and releasing a Japanese voice patch for the English voice Sengoku Basara. You rip off Tecmo Koei that much, may as well copy that decision, too.
I'm right there with you on the Japanese patch for the English version of Sengoku Basara. I have been sticking with my Asian version and just following translation guides off the net. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the English version after hearing how bad the voices were. A game that has 2 seasons of an anime, and an upcoming movie, and Capcom leaves the voices out. Silly Capcom.
I might be in the minority here, but I mean, I've lost quite a bit of faith in the Japanese developers naming their games. But Sengoku Basara: The Last Party? How many synonyms of "last" can we include in a title?
Final Fantasy? The Last Story? Star Ocean: Til the End of Time?
@Teclo Maybe it's because I'm two seconds away from falling asleep, but what you said made no sense to me whatsoever. I thought it had to be animated to be considered anime.

...Wasn't Tokugawa assassinated by Mitsuhide in the anime series? I haven't watched the whole first series yet to know what happens.
Yes, and Tadakatsu was exploded while Shimazu was shot in the face. Doesn't stop them from coming back in the second season though.
