Select Blockbusters to host Modern Warfare 2 launches photo

If you're a retailer that sells video games, chances are pretty good that you'll be holding a midnight launch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Well, as it turns out, Blockbuster is no exception.

The video rental chain will be hosting launch events on November 9, starting at 9:00 P.M. at select locations. The event will feature a pre-release game demo, as well as giving those who attend the opportunity to rent, purchase, or win Infinity Ward's soon-to-be blockbuster of its own.

Hit the jump to see if your local Blockbuster is participating, and if you end up going, take pictures for us. We like pictures.

How come this is tagged #PC? The PC version isn't available until a few days afterwards.

There are a lot more Blockbusters that will still be selling the game at midnight, just many of them won't be making an "event" of it. No contests or playing the game early.

This is a good oppurtunity for Blockbuster to, ya know, not die. I'd be pushing this as an event in as many Blockbusters as possible. Especially those in shopping centers where a GameStop or variation thereof is a walk away. I'd be making this HUGE! Giving away free shit and having sales on all preplayed and new games.

Of course I'm assuming they have the money to do all that.

For all the Blockbusters in my area, they're still positioned poorly within shopping centers and no one cares to go to them, for gaming or for movies.

This is just an exercise in futility in a time RedBox, Netflix and Gamefly have given customers a better deal. Its also why internet service providers are so intent on capping bandwidth - they just never imagined the internet would get better than the other services they were providing.

Not as interesting as using a Predator to shoot rockets containing your MW2 preorder into your yard. Make it happen Activision, you have the money for it.

The bigger question is if your Blockbuster is still open or not.
