Sega unleashes the Werehog in third Sonic Unleashed trailer

I sincerely apologize, but I simply couldn’t resist -- there’s something primal inside me that just loves making bad puns. Anyway, Sega has sent over a brand-spanking-new trailer for Sonic Unleashed, and it’s the first time we’ve seen Sonic the Werehog in action since E3. The feral footage (check out the latter third for some brutal combos and howling) shows off Were-Sonic’s unique abilities, such as pulling himself up to a ledge using his Stretch Armstrong-like arms.

As for the rest of the video, I gleefully hummed along with the catchy and sprightly music -- in fact, it’s stuck in my head. The music and the distinctive art direction are two of my favorite things about this game; I just hope that the gameplay holds up as well. I’m certainly excited about what Sonic’s bestial, Mr. Hyde-like persona can do, especially since his design isn’t really conducive to the 3D Sonic trope of “hold right/up to win.” Hell, I think I like the Werehog sections better than the standard Sonic sections...

Man, I hope this game is good. We’ll know in a few months; Sonic Unleashed will be out for the PS3, 360, Wii, and PS2 this holiday season.

It will be a great when it's like $30. At launch, meh. Like Spykron said, too risky.

If it's glitchy, then I'll be bitchy! So yea, normally I wouldn't wait but Sonic hasn't lived up to expectations in recent years, glitches aside. I'll be waiting. Here's to a damn good Sonic game!

Wouldn't a werehog be like a man that turns into a pig when the moon is full? It's like the twist in Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Also, spoilers.

Ya, the music was pretty slick with some funkiness to it.

From watching that video, I got lost. The mechanics of the game confused me with how the controls are going to work with the camera.

Unless its just one of those kind of games you just have to try. But I could see myself getting frustrated pretty quick if the camera gets to be a bitch when I'm frantically trying to keep from falling off.

"Its 2D, no its 3D, back to 2D but semi twisted, holy shit look at that jump then dive, jump then dive, look here, now there, this game is crazy... *dead*"

Definitely a faster looking pace for 3D game. Which is good I suppose, Sonic at least has a speedy feel down. Can't wait to just play the damn thing and find out. Thats a good thing for the series I suppose. Get people talking about it again.

Why can't they just leave sonic alone. Damn Sega, just keep him as the little blue crack head we all know. No roid-rage hog please.
