Sega to bring more import hotness to Wii-owning wide-eyed devils photo

In a move that we could only hope brings more cries of "best week EVER" from Retroforce GO's very own Chad Concelmo, Sega has promised to deliver more import Genesis titles to the Wii's Virtual Console. Following in the footsteps of Alien Soldier's release, we've been promised "a number" of fellow import goodies, though we'll have to wait and see which ones.

Considering no actual importing has been done, I find it somewhat insulting that these new titles will have an increased price point of 900 Wii Points, but then I find the idea of paying for unaltered ROMs rather unappealing anyway. I'm a miserable, Scrooge-like character, if you couldn't tell already.

For people who aren't me, however, and have resisted downloading these ROMs that we weren't allowed to have back in the day, this could be great news. I expect people to lap up the "imported" grandeur like eager cats in a veritable sea of cream.

FOR MEGADRIVERS CUSTOM.

I must say, as someone who has every single game ever released in any region for the NES, SNES, megadrive and n64 as roms, there's something inherently more rewarding about VC games. The fact that you have to pay money for them, and that you can't just cheat by using save states the whole time, makes me play far more attentively. The games are overpriced, and the PAL issues are bullshit, and ireland is apparently the second most expensive country to buy wii points in the world(after chile), but I still have a soft spot for the service.

hey jim,

stop bitching please.

every article you do now turns into you complaining.

sorry, PAL, (get it?) but you have so much angst over the trivial, and it's time to move on that the Wii ain't for you.

we all heart you tho, ok?

Dude, nothing wrong with imports, but paying 9 bucks sucks balls. I've always felt that it was a rip off, charging 8 bucks for SNES and SEGA games. You buy 2 of em, and you're left with only 400 pts. You can't buy anything with 400 pts in America. Perhaps they figure you'll want to get your 4 bucks worth, so you will buy more points. Fucktards. Only when you buy $40 worth of points does it all make sense.

I can only hope that this includes games that actually need translations and that Nintendo follows suit with their systems.

Cool. There's hope for us getting Burning Rangers again. Perhaps a Wii remix might be yet on the cards.

I can't see them ever translating anything. They're not going to go and hack ROMs to localize them (because I'm sure a lot of these games don't have source code anymore). And they sure as hell aren't going to remake the games. However, they could release Mother, as it's already been translated. That's not Sega though.
