Sega sends NiGHTS: Into Dreams sailing onto the PS2 photo

Famitsu has just posted the news that Sega has announced NiGHTS: Into Dreams is getting a PS2 re-release. The Saturn classic will undergo some light graphic improvements and may add a few more new features before its release in Japan (set for February 21st, 2008). Should you be able to read Japanese, I've attached the pics of the Famitsu pages for your scrutiny.

All I can say is, if this doesn't come to the US, I may go to Sega and attempt to kill some people. NiGHTS is one of my favorite games of all time, and even though I'm looking forward to Journey of Dreams for the Wii, the idea of being able to play the original again on my PS2 is a hell of a holiday gift. I'll be watching this one like a fat dog waiting at the food bowl.

I would pick this up no matter the cost if it came here.. I bought a Sega Saturn just to be able to own and play NiGHTS so this would be awesome if they brought it to PS2 as well. Thanks for the info!

Why do people want this game? I do not understand at all. If it wasn't for the nostalgia, would you really want it? It's a fairy that flies into hoops. Common, guys.

Jeez. Maybe it's because I was a Nintendo kid.

I bought the Saturn for the Capcom fighters (4Mb RAM cart for the muthafukkin win) but Nights was awesome. I Loved it and still have the original and my Saturn to this day. It has a magical quality to it. Kinda like Mario 64 only less.

I will definitely be picking this up since I (wisely) opted for a 64 instead of a Saturn and missed out on this.

That is, assuming it comes Stateside. Wayne Brady is gonna have to choke a bitch if it doesn't.

Yay, now I don't have to buy a Saturn to play this game!

Isn't NiGHTS coming out on Wii or was that just speculation?

this is the ultimate result of sega's abandondment of console hardware... who wouldve thought, back in 1999, 'that dreamcast game' would end up on the PS2 eventually?

The-Excel the sequel is coming out on the Wii.

This will probably be better than the Wii game, since it was by Sonic Team before the good people left and they where replaced by monkeys.

So the Wii is getting a sequel and the PS2 is getting an enhanced remake. That makes sense except for it would make more sense if both games came out on both systems.

If this does not come stateside, I will commit all kinds of violence I learned in video games. This is like, my favorite game I never played. I read all the reviews and Archie comics, I just never had a Saturn. Please come to US PS2!

this game was perhaps the only reason i was eventually going to buy a Saturn on ebay... so if this truly does come out on the PS2 - YAY!

There goes my hopes that the original would appear on the virtual console to celebrate the release of the sequel. :(

Fuck the Wii haters.

Anyway, this is epic win for the PS2. Between this and the Wii game, NiGHTS is finally getting the respect it deserves.

Dear Sega,

More Panzer Dragoon Saga plzthx.

Love,
Me

P.S. Also, release NiGHTS in the US for PS2, or I'll do something violent and then blame a Sega game for it.
