Yeah this will never happen. I thought gamers were smart enough to know that answers like this were just the PR department's nice way of telling people to piss off, but I guess I was wrong.

@GoofierBrute actually it's exactly the opposite. It's a golden rule for any PR to never give false hopes unless there's a solid possibility of them being fullfilled. Giving hope and then disappointing is a landmine no PR worth his salt would step on.
Guys, guys, guys. Keep the arguing down. You know they are going to enhance Valkyria Chronicles III WITH a new squad: the JSRF squad. Then Sega will print money out of there asses, and the masses will rejoice. That is what is taking so long

This sounds alot like the noncommittal B.S. Capcom gave fans of Breath of Fire regarding a sixth game in the series years ago, until they finally said "no plans exist" for another game.
Still, Sega has a chance to look like big damn heroes after this statement, and it'll be a shame if they pull a "Capcom" on VC3 at this point.

Let xseed, Atlus, or Natsume localize and publish it stateside. They know somethIng about localization on a shoe string budget.

Yo man. Calm down. I love both JSR and VC so either series getting a sequel would be awesome. But note the problem at hand is at VC3 has ALREADY been released in Japan. All we want is a localization. There are several other companies that can do that, but Sega is not letting up. There are many of us willing to buy the game out of love for the series, so it's a bit frustating.
As for JSR, there is no sign of a sequel, so keep your fingers crossed and don't dismiss another series out of ignorance. Chances are you'll see a JSR3 before Shenmue 3 ever comes out (Fans of THAT series are the ones who are really suffering). Peace.

Sega of America has programmers, correct? They were the ones that handled the PS3 version of Bayonetta, yes? If so they should just port the game to the Vita and release the game on its physical media and have a download only version for PSP users. Get that near the Vita's launch, and sales should be pretty good. If not, get Sega of Japan to do all the porting but still localize it.

1) Announce that a beloved series won't be released.
2) Announce that "all is not lost!", but offer no guarantees.
3) Watch as your fans, who you will be charging premium price for and likely locking behind an online pass, do your PR work for you. Sit back and watch as people pay you to work for you.

People asking Sega for different games in a story specifically about Valkyria Chronicles... And we wonder why it never got released outside of Japan?
If they were worried about not making money from it by releasing it on a platform that isn't as popular in the west as it is in japan, why not release it on a platform that is more popular, like the PS3.
Fans of the series wouldn't give a toss about a coat of HD either just port the PSP version to PS3 and they can have their/my money.

Just tell them to look at the damn sales. Valkyria Chronicles 2 sold more in the West than it did in Japan. It's financially sound to release it here.
I might not give up my hopes but I’m not going to get them up just yet either, I can’t let you break my heart again Sega.
What's sad is that if these sales numbers are correct (VC1 - http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/18897/valkyria-chronicles/) (VC2 -http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/36461/valkyria-chronicles-ii/), VC1 for the PS3 not only sold better in the U.S., VC1 sold more units in Japan than VC2.
I even went as far as to pre-order VA2. Sega is right though, I'm pretty sure my PSP has spent more time with a dead battery than a charged battery at this point.
