Just clicked on the Wii Shop channel to see if there were any Christmas surprises, and wadda-ya-know, Sega's putting some of their Genesis games on sale. Sonic 1, 2, and 3, Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2, Puyo Puyo 2, and even theCitizen Kane of videogames itself are available for just $5 each from now until January 6th, 2010. That's a whole $3 cheaper than usual. Why is Sega putting on this unprecedented sale? My guess is that they're trying to grab the attention of the thousands of people who just got a Wii for Christmas and are sifting through the 500 games available on the service for the first time.
I just hope that this doesn't cause Toe Jam and Earl to make Sega any more money. That game is an affront to all that is holy, and must be stopped at all costs.
You can check the official Sega website for more details if you're really that bored.

Oh HELL NO! Mr. Holmes, one can only hope that a large bottle of holiday cheer has befuddled your judgment or rendered you unable to properly imply sarcasm.
Oh wow. This is the first time any VC game has been discounted, let alone 10 of them at once. I hope Nintendo allows this to happen for WiiWare games, too.

@g-man: Astute observation, and that’s exactly right, this is the first VC sale ever, so far as I’m aware. For that reason exactly we are hoping this gets a lot of support, because more support = more probability of it happening again in the future! And to be honest, I’m especially happy with the games that were selected: the Sonic games are a no-brainer, and the others are an awesome mix of arcade classics and hard-core favorites (Shining Force and Streets of Rage 2 FTW).

i shoud'nt be tempted to buy sonic again, i already own it like 3 times on different hardware and can emulate it on the pc and wii. Yet I do want it.... :/

You are going to Hell for that paragraph, Mr. Holmes.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Toejam and Earl was one of the Genesis' best games.
