@ Stealth: exactly, and many of these elements are added to Western games just for the sake of sticking them in a genre, while not even remotely being RPGs.
Tacking on an exp system, or a stat improvement system, or character customization, or adding an element of choice DOES NOT make a game a RPG. I mean if it does, let's start calling NCAA Football and Madden RPGs.

This trust system seems really intresting, it seems as a cool mechanic for customising your team thats suited best for your playstyle. It also helps give the characters life instead of just some annoying tag alongs like they are in other games. I just hope the AI is good as I can see bead AI really breaking this game.
Its intresting and deep mechanics like this trust system thats a big reason why I love Japanese games. OFC I can imagine most gamers totally not getting the trust system and choosing a team that totally goes against their playstyle. I can see most gamers choosing their team based on who has the biggest tits or some other daft thing.
