Sega Rally demo deforms Xbox Live photo

A demo for Sega's upcoming racer, Sega Rally, is now available on Xbox Live. The single-player demo weighs in at about 692 MB, which is five MB heavier than my favorite WWF wrestler of old, Earthquake.

The demo features two tracks, set in the game's Canyon and Tropical environments. The Mitsubishi Evo IX FQ3 and the Subaru Impreza STi Spec C type RA are selectable, but there's no explanation given as to why in the hell we can't just call things "cars" anymore.

PlayStation 3 owners won't get left in this dust on this one -- word is that a Sega Rally demo will be hitting the PlayStation Network soon. Someone go download this sucker and let us know what you think.

I clogged on this earlier this morning, but copy:

- 30 FPS, maybe due to deformation?
- Track deformation is VERY cool and more obvious than Motorstorm, probably because it's done in actual geometry as opposed to a texture pass. It's also a lot easier to see if you're in bumper-cam mode.
- People report it gets along with the steering wheel.
- Control without the wheel is kinda off. Not like Dirt floaty, but loose.
- Graphics are quite good, but music sucks. Sega is good with music one day and then way off the next.

Something other than Skate to play seeing as my elite of two weeks has just died. The CD drive makes a bad grinding noise and doesn't even recognise any sort of disc. Glad I spent the additional £50 on the elite. Who would have thought I'd be sending off a 360 and a Wii the same week for repairs.

Go next/new gen! It's the future!

Played it, very good IMO. I'll check the full game as it seems a bit more forgiving than Dirt, for obvious arcadey reasons.

Can't wait to get home and try this out. Here's hoping they return to the glory days of Sega Rally 1995.

The demo fucking rocks, even if the game does still feel like a rental title. Pure fun racing, and multiplayer is going to rock.

I just played it and am in shock as to how bsd it is...

I won on both tracks first go. Then I changed cars and still won by a big margin, then I changed to road tires and won by even more (these are both off road tracks) this brings a whole new meaning to "arcade style racing".

Your co-driver calls some turns with a "easy left/right, maybe" - MAYBE! You are fired buddy, why don't you open that door there and duck and roll on this "maybe" turn. That will teach you to take better pace notes on the shakedown.

The track deformation is cool but it only happens on the track, rocks/fences etc. don't take damage just like your car.

I can't believe what a short amount of time it took me to come first. DIRT took me hours to win all three stages, it was a real feeling of accomplishment when i finally did it.

Why is this demo so easy? Why do I get so much traction on dirt with slick tires? Why can't I fire my co-driver? Why doesn't my car take damage? Why doesn't my car roll? Why do I hardly slow down when I hit a rock/fence?

This is meant to be a rally game right?

Too bad sega rally revo sucks ass. graphics are cartoony and last gen, controls are sloppy, and lacks any sim elements.
