Sega presents: Sonic in Night of the Werehog photo

Sonic Unleashed shipped in North America this week for PlayStation 2 and the Wii, and to commemorate the event, Sega have unveiled Sonic's first short film.

Head over to the official Web site to check out Sonic: Night of the Werehog in its entirety, a CGI film resmiscent of Disney Pixar films. Or that other company that's not Pixar, but does quality CGI family pictures ... you know, that one. In any case, it's definitely an entertaining, quality short, well worth checking out. Because really, you have nothing better to do.

So how's the game? Not sure. I received a copy of the Xbox 360 version today, which I'm itching to check out. And our own Jim Sterling is across the pond in the UK attending some Sonic Unleashed event that -- and this is no joke -- the actual Sonic the Hedgehog is attending.

Check back next week for our full review of Sonic Unleashed.

Wow, that was great :D

Sega seems to know what they're doing when it comes to Animation. If only they had it in a higher resolution :/

I remember Jim saying a CGI film should be made when he posted the Sonic Unleashed intro, well looks like his dream came true!

Yeah, Sega showed us this earlier today. Definitely very much for children, but the animation is something amazing.

I have this feeling that Sega is practicing with this, and could be using it as a staging ground for motion picture soon. Just one look at the quality of the animation here tells me they could handle it easily.

I find this very satisfying. The animation is drool-worthy.

I imagine this is going to be continued in one or more installments. Or, at least, I hope it is.

Good job SEGA. I'd pay to see the feature length version.

Oh wow, even with the Werehog I enjoyed this. Suddenly, I have higher hopes for Sonic Unleashed. :D

the human characters in this looked like shit. otherwise, the animation was solid.

Man, Sega is rocking so much lately. And this makes me look forward to unleashed even more. I hope they do more animations like that. It looked great.

That was a really cute short. And in the segments before Sonic went werehog, he showed amazingly classic styled personality that I really missed from most of the recent games.

Okay, I know this has been brought up before, but what the hell is that flying imp thing supposed to be?
Other than this game's Navi, I mean.

Im skipping this sonic crap and the game with a 99.9% certainty rate, the last sonic 2006 game on xbox 360 was the 3rd worst sonic game I ever played. The only thing worse than that is sonic 3d blast and sonic R.

and i didnot even think the Shadow the hedgehog and tails adventure game was that horrible.

So I am done sonic and epcially done with the horrible cartoon shows. the only decent one was the 1994 anime film.

This begs the question: Why the hell is Sega not making movies. If Jim is right, and they ARE makeing a movie, I very much look forward to it.

@Tron

No worse than the human characters in most other kids CGI movies.

On another note, that was actually pretty cool. Nice that they forewent voice acting.

Wow found that oddly entertaining. Was looking forward to Sonic Unleashed anyway, but this has made me hate the Werehog less. If only slightly. Also, my being a simpleton helps.

I like the overall change in style that's coming with Unleashed. Seems like Sonic's sort of likable again.

Pretty entertaining.
