Sega does impossible, makes 360 Virtua Fighter 5 better with patch

     Xbox 360

Virtua Fighter 5 Online for the Xbox 360 is great. No arguments there. But could it be better? Sega apparently thought so, and have released a new downloadable patch for the game. Better how, exactly?

  • Some characters will now be able to select costume-specific pants in alternate costumes, for example equipping Costume A pants in Costume B.
  • Replays of online battles can now be saved.
  • One additional item per character (appear as "Downloaded item" in Costume settings/Item edit dialog).
  • Gamer pictures will now be shown in online battles.
  • After winning the World Tournament Final, it's now more likely that rivals you have not defeated will be playing in arcades.
  • When someone joins an online match, you can now see their connection quality.
  • Various fixes for minor bugs, including a texture bug.
  • Easier sorting of rankings.
  • Rematches in Online VS. Player Matches now possible even when the players haven't added their opponent to their friend list

While we're not talking Earth-shattering improvements, it's nice to see Sega making subtle changes to the title so long after its release.

Does anyone remember when the PlayStation 3 and arcade versions of Virtua Fighter 5 were technical marvels no one thought they'd seen on Microsoft's console? Sega, I'm still waiting for my PlayStation 3 patch so I can simply play Virtua Fighter 5 online -- what gives?

Well I play this thing online and let me tell you that if you are playing versus and then want to change your character you need to get to the main menu (2 loadings), choose an account (or not), take the character, enter versus, enter XBL, enter breate match, oress the middle X, go to friends, choose your friend, and send the invite.

The only improvement I want is a 2P character selection screen like the good ol days with red and blue squares.

Hmmm... I actually played this game on my PS3 and didn't care to much for it, but after seeing all the reviews and positive feedback it's getting, I might just give it another shot on my 360.

"and once and for all, no, there won't be a patch to allow online play for the PlayStation 3 version -- it's simply impossible, as they weren't able to include the ability to update the game when it launched."

even though i have it for 360 that still lame. :/
