Sega accepting fan entries for Project Diva Arcade photo

Sega announced today that they will soon be bringing the Vocaloid-themed PSP rhythm game Project Diva to arcades. Not only that, but between October 15th and Halloween, they'll be accepting fan-contributed songs for inclusion in its soundtrack.

Songs can be entered for consideration via the game's new channel on Nico Nico Douga, and both pro and amatuer Vocaloid Masters are welcome to try out. The tracks must be all-original material, obviously, and should run between 2:30 and 3:30 in length. Winning songs will be announced on the Nico Nico page November 16th, and their creators will be showered with Hatsune Miku swag as a reward. They'll also get to hear their track included in the game's location in January, and probably in the final game as well.

Little is known about the arcade version at this point, partiularly about its control scheme and interface. If you've got a Nico Nico account, you can check out a teaser clip of the game. It doesn't show much aside from the new character models, but they themselves look great, and the clip is set to Ryo/Supercell's Meruto, which is always nice to hear. Equally as nice is hearing the classic "Sayyy-Guh" Sega intro as spoken by Miku herself. We'll bring you more info on this title as it becomes available.

between this and the beaterator (weird name) games, we're seeing a real outreach to indie artists by major game studios.

I wonder if the next game will end up being 95% Ryo stuff like the first. As much as I like supercell/Ryo I'd like to see the other artists getting their stuff in to a Miku game, granted there would be a lot of copyright issues due to the fact that a lot of the songs are anime/game songs. I'd also like to see the other vocaloids make an appearance as something more than additional skins.

Stupid Miku and her sleeve not being part of her shirt, exposing her shoulders and whatnot, contributing to my sick fantasies.

Uh, er, but anyway, this is interesting. A shame that I'm not musically gifted or anything, otherwise I'd want to give this a try. Hope I can see some interesting compositions when they get released.

@Maverick: Waki is in my top 5 fetishes.

They should have a Papa Roach and Nickelback song.

Holy shit are you serious, sweet. Anyway if its anime, and its Sega, I'll buy it.

anybody got an idea how this is supposed to work? I don't really see a submission form or anything else other than the announcement. I know its a few days early for the contest entrance forms, but I don't really see how your supposed to upload it other than through the assumption of posting a NicoNico vid or sending Sega an MP3.

Also, trying to read moonspeak at work on a computer that doesn't have any Moonspeak language support other than English is hard.

I wonder if they give the maker credit at all.

Is it just me, or is Miku looking suspiciously younger in that picture?

This game may single-handedly save arcades. Seriously.
