Seeds officially changes their name to Platinum Games photo

Quick recap just in case you don't already know (but I trust most of you Dtoid regulars know quite well), Seeds is a game company made up of several major members of the now-defunct Clover Studios. It seems Seeds has decided to go with an official name change, which disappoints me as I really liked the uniqueness of the name. The new name is Platinum Studios, which was changed after a merge with the mysterious ODD Corporation.

I hope despite the change to a name blander than a bowl of plain oatmeal, Platinum can keep working on dynamic titles that break the mold. Clover titles like Okami and Godhand made a major impact on the industry and lent some fire to the games as art debate. Now we just have to wait patiently and see what the first offering from this promising studio may bring.

This is a terrible name change, in my opinion. SEEDS sounded cool and kept with the plant them from Clover. Platinum Games sounds like some 80s game publisher, and not in the good way.

Why Platinum Games...

If they have games come out for the 360, and those games aren't hits right away what do we have platinum hits for to begin with.

...Seeds was better, but the name matters much less than the amount of freedom a developer is offered. I expect good things out of this, even though some of Clover was absorbed by Capcom before Seeds even existed.

Good Luck!

I don't really care what they're called as long as they keep making games. However I really liked SEEDS because I thought it was Capcom's studio that would make new IPs that would grow into franchises. Oh well...

It might have nothing to do with this, but way before Clover got shaft (and eventually regrouped and changed name), there was already a Portuguese software house named Seed Studios.

the name doesnt really matter to me, as long as the games are good I could care less if their called analbuttrape studios.
seeds was cool and all... but it doesnt matter too much. hopefully with this new backer they'll be able to release a game soon...
*crosses fingers that the rights for okami suddenly fall into their hands, hopes for okami 2*

...I like Seeds better. Besides, have they even released any info on any titles they are working on?

Good luck, Platinum Games. I wonder what their first title will be.
