See what Wii games would look like on the 3DS photo

Want to see some 3D screenshots of Wii games running on the 3DS? Then download this win.zip file, copy the contents onto a SD card, insert the SD card into a 3DS, and there you go. It'll take a little while, as there are hundreds of screenshots here, but it's worth it.

I was especially pleased to see several Wii games that are bursting with creativity on the inside, but come off as a little scraggly on the outside. I'm talking about games like Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, Sin and Punishment 2, Fragile Dreams, and No More Heroes 2. Love them all, but they've always been ugly ducklings, at least by home console standards. With the aid of the 3DS, they all look genuinely impressive.

Then there's shots of Wii games that have always looked awesome, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Muramasa, and Super Mario Galaxy. There's even a few GameCube games thrown in there for good measure, like F-Zero GX and Luigi's Mansion. All classics, and all look even more attractive in 3D.

I know the 3DS is already inundated with ports, but after seeing these screens, I'm dying for a few of these Wii/Gamecube titles to make the jump to the 3DS, particularly Fragile Dreams and No More Heroes 2. How about you? You up for some more Wii-to-3DS ports?

Really nice.
I'd love a Smash Bros game for the 3DS.

Considering the ONLY games on the 3DS that I give a damn about are ports/remakes (Kid Icarus wasn't very fun for me when I tried it at PAX East), I'd rather just have new games.

I mean, I buy new systems for new games. Games like The World Ends With You on the DS or Sword and Sorcery on iPhone show that you get much better experiences with games built specifically for the platform they're on as opposed to trying to shoehorn one kind of game on another kind of platform.

Fatal Frame IV 3DS.
Camera works like Face Raiders. That's all I gotta say.

Some of the pictures look absolutely amazing in 3D, others are sorta meh, but that's not the 3DS' fault, it's just because they weren't optimized for the 3DS.

Seeing as how the 3DS is just as (if not more) powerful than the Wii it would be nice to see some of these Wii games ported over to the 3DS with special 3D features built in.

@fruitValandil. Most certainly can, the data cap at launch is 2GB, gamecube discs maxed out at 1.5GB. according to the company that manufacturers the 3ds gamecards, they can go all the way up to a beefy 8GB. and a lot of wii games can probally fit on a 2GB card, only 3 games needed a dual layer disc for the wii. Super smash bros brawl, metroid prime trilogy and metroid other m

I would love the prime trilogy or a new prime game on 3ds. Can have 3 control schemes. A traditional one modeled after the gamecube games controls, a stylus one for the people's that play fps or the demitium games on the orignal ds and a gyro one for looking around that would make you look absolutely crazy in public :D

If Tales of the Abyss can fit on a current 3DS cart with full voice and nothing missing, then pretty much any Wii game could be made to fit on it.

Beyond the Labyrinth already looks like Fragile Dreams. Better even since it has better ground textures.

I never thought that NMH was ugly, the art style makes it very pleasing to look at. I'm about to download these, I already have a bunch(different) that kotaku linked. 3d photos look brilliant on the 3ds screen.

Funny, I always thought Galaxy was one of the games most heavily let down by the lack of HD. I actually think Sin and punishment 2 and Tasunoko look better, as, when you're playing them, they're so fast and furious that any deficiencies vanish from the players perspective.

I swear on everything that is Holy, I hope they make a Smash Bros for 3DS. I'm already going to be getting one sometime later, but an announcement of a Smash Bros. 3D would push up the 3DS purchase timeline for me.

Also, Power Stone 3D. For the love of God.

How the fuck are fragile dreams and no more heroes "ugly ducklings?" those are two of the best looking titles on the wii, or on any console right now, for that matter.

@Eighteen: Holmes might not be entirely to blame. I don't know about T3HM0RR0W, but the only link I ever had was the megaupload page, so that's what I sent to him. Also, may I congratulate you personally? I've only worked with the Galaxy pictures so far, but they are the first thing I've seen on the 3DS to actually leave me speechless.

@Eighteen -- Nice work!

@Holmes -- Glad you liked them! Sorry, I should have researched the creator's info. Anyways, these have been a hoot. They've really got the imagination going. I just hope that Nintendo isn't too serious about not making more ports for the 3DS. I know I don't have a problem with portable/3D versions of Wii and GC games! Metroid Prime and Sin & Punishment are tippy top on my list of lusted after titles.

@ Eighteen- Great work! And yes, as you may have gathered, I didn't have any idea where these files came from. Not to blame the victim, but you may want to throw a "read me" file in the next zip you throw together stating your name or internet handle. Otherwise, people (like myself) will have no idea where this stuff originated from.

@ g-off- No More Heroes 2 and Fragile Dreams have great art direction, but small budgets. As such, they have beautiful visual ideas, but technically substandard follow through, especially when compared to big budget first part Wii games like Galaxy and Brawl.

However, on the 3DS, Fragile and No More Heroes 2 both look perfect, due to the 3D effect, the smaller screens making the textures and polys look "tighter", and for the fact that people just naturally expect less out of handheld graphics.

Does that make sense?

NHM 2 and TvC look better than more than half of the Wii library, the only games that look better, I can think of off the top of my head are nintendo 1st party games.

I don't give a shit about people whining about ports, but if they port Muramasa, Mario Galaxy and No More Heroes to the 3DS I'll buy two of each. My god it'd be great to have them on a portable system and carry them around everywhere. Another game that I wish got a port is Odin Sphere; that sexy game is so perfect for a portable console.

@flamezeroX Holy moly Someone needs to make that Fatal Frame game it'd be SO.FREAKING.SWEET.

Hmm, this was the exact thing that many of the same people crucified the PSP for, yet they are chomping at the bit for more of the same on another handheld. Hilarious and ironic, as always.

Yes, I know you had no idea where the pictures came from, since two other people notified you and you just wrote an article based on what they told you.
however they explained me how it was, so it's allright :D.

Anyhoo, I never would have tought that I would be everywhere on the internet,
that's why i never put readme files in the first place.
but the readme is a great idea :D, i will put it in the next files, thanks!! ;D

@flamezerox Fatal Frame on the 3DS is what I've been hoping/wishing/dreaming of since I played Face Raiders for the first time. Thanks for proving I'm not alone. I mean, 'cmon, we had that Zero: Real game of a similar ilk on mobile phones....Tecmo, NOA, I'd forgive and forget the debacle around FFIV if you through us a bone here ;]

Also, on the subject of Fragile-So picture this: you get those screenshots, lovely, think about using StreetPass to swap memories found in game, including ones you recorded yourself-just like Seto stumbling upon them randomly when traveling in his own world. That, plus the fact that the generous save points make the game great for a portable release...And that it's almost better in handheld-ish bursts of play [combat can get frustrating depending on your patience, ect.]....HNNNG I'm just gonna go now and stop making myself miserable wwanting such things I'll never have. ;-; It'd be LOVELY for Fragile to get another chance.

Resident Evil 4: Amazing, but a little repetitive and tiring due to the dull color palette.
Pokemon: A few excellent shots (some of the attacks look great, and the clearer pictures of the Pokemon themselves are great also), but overall not very good. Unfortunately the pictures of the trainers often turned out better than the ones of the Pokemon. I imagine this would be a hard game to find decent screenshots of.
Metroid Prime 2: BEAUTIFUL! I doubt that the 3DS is actually capable of such gorgeous graphics. Same goes for RE4.
No More Heroes 2: Lots of great shots. The HUD is a little distracting, but there are plenty of excellent pictures without it.
Mario Galaxy: Some of the close-up shots aren't great, but the bigger shots convey a tremendous sense of depth and scale.
Wind Waker: Some objects that are too close to the screen caused me to see double, but for the most part the bright colors really pop off the screen. Some of the sword fighting pictures look really great.
Muramasa: Looks surprisingly good, especially for a 2D game. A few of the pictures look like pop-up books, but the pictures of the open field with the sunset in the background look fantastic.

Those are the only ones I've looked at so far.
