See the Little Sister 'makeover' of BioShock 2 photo

Here on this most-blessed of all American holidays, The Fourth of July, I find myself sitting at home watching my wife play the original BioShock. Yes, nearly two years after its original release, she’s decided to finally dive in and visit Rapture.

But while she’s looking towards the past, let’s take a look at the future of the series -- the new look of the Little Sisters of BioShock 2. “Reinvisioned” by 2K Marin for the upcoming game, the concept art shows off Little Sisters that look slightly more human, less surreal than the iconic children of the original.

At least that’s my take on it. More images after the jump and in the gallery. What do you think of the direction they’re taking?

I only started properly playing Bioshock a week ago on Sunday, as I have a big backlog, near the end now :]

I was slightly terrified when I rescued the sisters from the first one, since there was something about those bug eyes that rub me the wrong way. The stares from these sisters are spooky as well, but on a lesser extent, I dig this direction.

Like Jack Maverick, the huge eyes creeped me out. I like this design better.

I honestly think Bioshock 2 is going to be the biggest disappointment of all time.

The 1st one was the best thing in years. This just feels like an expansion pack gameplay wise.

i would like to be able to talk with NPCs in Bioshock2, i'm also playing now for the first time Bioshock and in the scene when you are in a room crowded with little girls it feels strange how they are all staring at you and you can't say anything.

And maybe now they make them have more imagination: i find it stupid that all little sisters are calling their bid daddies mr bubbles. It's sad the the most iconic duo in the game is the same all the time you meet them.

Lovely, nice to see how they start - when they are kidnapped? - and how they end up after being in Rapture

So....are we able to beat the living shit out of the Little Sisters? Please?

I dunno, I always thought they looked kinda cute. In Bioshock when you saved them they'd be all like "Thank you mister, thank you." with their hands clutched together in front of them, big ol' eyes looking at you in gratitude. Just adorable.

Hmm....Maybe my Bio-logical-shock clock is ticking.

Aww, they are so cute! I'm actually thinking of getting one of these angels as a tattoo.

I love the new direction.

Are they going to have the glowy eyes like in that last picture, so that the fundies won't get their panties all in a twist, or at they going to look like the normal (relatively speaking) little girls like they were originally intended to look? I'm guessing they'll go with the glow, for the same reason they did in the first game. Doesn't matter to me either way, I guess, except for idle curiosity. 'Spose I can wait until the game is released to find out.

Eh, nevermind. Actually followed the link and saw that it would be the same ol' "before saving/after saving" thing from the first game.
