Sweet Mother of Shooters! If you told me a few years back we'd be playing games that looked like DoDonPachi Resurrection on our phones, I would have laughed at you.

Last month we told you we heard that Cave's follow-up to their release of Espgaluda II would be DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu, and now we're finally getting to see it in action in this new trailer. The video shows off the title's multiple game modes, button customizations and talks about the special background music mode, exclusive to this version. The end of the video is a steady beam of sexy in-game video. It's like your dodging bullets of iPhone gaming goodness!

Cave tells us that there's no set release date or price yet, but we know it is coming this summer, releasing worldwide. Know that only your newer devices will play this beast of a game. Those with an iPhone 4, 3GS, and the new iPod Touch from this year (or late last year) are good. iPad is fine too. The old Touch devices, the 3G phone and the older ones are not going to run this game.

I'm furious that they put this on iPhone, possibly the most ill suited platform for this type of game. Put this on 360 or PS3.

Yeah, I hope they put this on Xbox 360 so my Cave collection can grow even larger on the platform. I imported an Xbox 360 just because I wanted the Cave games that aren't region-free.

I still laugh that we see shmups like this on today's phones. How exactly is one supposed to survive when a large portion of the playfield is obscured by the player's hand?

If you haven't played a shmup on an iPhone (Espgaluda or Space Invaders Infinity Gene), you may be surprised how well they actually work on the platform. You can put your finger where ever you like: above the ship, on behind, beside. Most are designed with a little space at the bottom as sort of a foundation, but you can really touch anywhere to manuver.

Espgaluda II on arcade mode Experienced level is a real blast and really not that tricky to control. Feels very natural with just a little bit of practice.

Buttons are cool and all, but I think the iPhone/ quality touchscreen experience for shmups is amazing for the genre.

Yep, they do control great on iPhone. I try to mention it when these articles come up because it does sound ridiculous, I don't blame people for being skeptical, but when you actually try it the controls are great. If you have an iPhone/Pod/Pad and like shooters, go for it

I also own a japanese 360 mostly for cave games and other shmups, so they better port Daifukkatsu to the system! Apparently Guwange is getting a worldwide XBLA release, so that's good news.

I always love me a good Shmup. I'll definitely get this when it comes out. Espgaluda II was great as well.
