Section 8 revolutionizes the FPS by having guns photo

In case you couldn't tell from the title, this post will be dripping with a little thing I like to call sarcasm. I find when discussing things as immaterial as the guns of an upcoming FPS that sarcasm is the best approach. So let's all take a look at the revolutionary weaponry that is going to be found in Section 8, the new FPS coming to us from TimeGate.

The guns shoot bullets and some are for close range while others are for longer range. The point of using the guns is to kill people in the game. When you use a gun you pull the trigger and a bullet comes out and kills someone the gun is pointed at. The guns in Section 8 are the pistol, the assault rifle, the machine gun, the shotgun, the missile launcher and the sniper rifle. Each has its own ups and downs. Of course each faction in the game will have different versions of each gun. Can you feel the originality oozing from the weapon choices? Maybe if you look at the pictures you'll see it.

It's a good thing the game looks to change things up in other ways or else we might go into a coma after being put asleep by the snooze inducing weapon selection. Of course, what FPS out there has really tried to shake up things in the gun department for real? At least SouthPeak, who is publishing, and TimeGate are just being blatant about it.

Tonz 'o' Gunz

I feel very enlighted by the gun matter brought by this article; See here in Kaneda we still use bows and machetes.

How the hell are you suposed to hold the shot gun? looks like you ride it instead of actually freaking hold it in your hands.

Haha, very true, the shotgun looks more like a bike than a gun.

Wow, these designs are awful. All these guns look like ships in Battlestar Galactica. Seems like there was absolutely no creativity in coming up with these designs.

Except for the shotgun, it looks like a nice futuristic gas pump.

Kraid, there was no need to apologize for that. It was the best thing I have heard all day.

I did just wake up about an hour ago though.

Wait, so you pull the trigger and then it kills the person in front of me? I never figured it out...

Very uninspired gun choices indeed, why did they bother making them look so ridiculously high tech if they are just regular guns?

I don't know why nobody had this idea before, putting guns in FPS.
Genius, pure genius.

Those guns look like they weight a metric ton each. Thus, unusable by human standards.

At least they look kind of cool. The fact a lot seem to be red/blue versions of each other is sorta lame, though. Maybe each faction will have different alternate fire functions for each gun, thereby actually differentiating them? Huh? Eh? TimeGate, you listening here?

Also, the pistols do look pretty legit, even if the shotguns look like ass.

Almost every fps game suffers from the "standard fps guns"

You have the knife.
You have the pistol.
You have the shotgun.
You have the submachine gun.
You have teh assault rifle.
You have the battle rifle.
You have the sniper rifle.
You have the grenade launcher.
You have the rocket launcher.
You have the flamethrower.
And if you really want to fuck around, you have the railgun.

I haven't really heard of Section 8 before. But now it's known to me as the game with the crappy guns. Or the game with the guns that look like Terminator's shit. Or the game with the guns that look like they should have spinner tires. Or the game with the guns...

The snipers look insane. I play scout/sniper in most of my FPS (online) games, and I'd love that use that sexy baby right there. At least the weapon designs have some originality to their slick designs. It's almost like someone out of Unreal Tournament.

Borderland is trying to shake things up by having half a million guns or whatever number it is now.

So... meh.

Painkiller had a pretty sweet weapons system. The painkiller and the stake gun remain two of my favorite fps weapons ever.
