A demo for Section 8 is now available for stealing up some space on your Xbox 360 harddrive. The demo consists of one multiplayer map where you’ll be able to touch down into some 16 player frag fests. You can also play offline in the Instant Action mode and go up against the AI bots. Section 8 is a pretty fun game. Jim liked it. I liked it. Maybe you’ll like it too! I especially dig the game’s armor and I think it’s right up there with the Nanotech armor from Crysis.
Be sure to watch the video after the break too. It will give you some good pointers on the multiplayer and might help out your game in the demo.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Ugh, this game is terrible. It reminds me of a mix of Shadowrun and Quake Wars: Enemy Territory. HUD is a mess, gunplay is "meh", too much shit to know, the drop-in spawn is pretty damn cool, but I think this is gonna be a forgettable game.
Sick of First Person Shooters......they're getting as annoying as plastic instrument games ala' rock-band, band-hero, guitar-hero, etc., shit is all getting old......come on people quit buying this shit, so they stop making them.....lets see some creativity from these developers.....like scribblenauts....by the numbers shooters suck..
@JQM78: I havent seen an elitist like you in a real long time, I thought you dropped the "I'm to cool for first person shooters because they are popular" crap?
Anyways, I dont think I will be downloading any more demos today. The Mini Ninjas demo was terrible, the Lost Planet 2 demo was boring because my teamates either left the game or never did anything...
@JQM78 sorry but i couldnt tell you the last fps that was actually enjoyable. you cant blame a company for trying to put out a good shooter.....at least one thats not call of duty...
The latest Call of Juarez game is'nt too bad, but I grew tired of it quickly after about six -seven hours of the campaign, but besides that, theres really nothing worth mentioning....looking forward to more of the "RGG-ish-FPSers" to improve there formulas like mass effect 2 and the fallout series.....
"Wasn't there a pc beta of this game a little while ago?"
yes, and it's fantastic. I don't think I've ever been in a beta:
A) this smooth. No crashes, no glitches, no weird crap going on.
B) This slick. Easy to use UI, and from login to in-game? Clocked at EIGHT SECONDS.
C) Fun. I got into it really fast, and it's just fun. I was surprised how much I liked it. It's a good combo of BF2/Tribes/UT2k4.
Go try it out, I think it's pretty damn fun.
the only thing I don't like is the auto-aim. I can kinda see it for a 360 remote, but mouse+kb? Really?
I wish I could play this and LP 2 but my 360 needs a box, from what people are saying its like shadowrun which means, the games gonna be cheap around christmas and that it might be really good and have a community(note that I didn't say great but good should suit it) until the 360 dies, Gotta find a box so I can play this
I agree with Jehuty. It was terrible and the character was slow as fuckin' Christmas. Well guess I still only have Modern Warfare 2 to look forward to for now.
The armour modifications menu looks pretty awesome, daunting as FUCK on first inspection, but thats certainly not a bad thing. As stated above, movement is very slow, but moreover the run/sprint mechanic seems extremely awkward, with a period of 'jogging' between standard movement and boosting. Not a fan of that at present.
...and yes, the amount of damage that individuals can withstand is massive. Its obviously a design choice but its certainly a rather jarring one - I'm not sure whether thats more a reflection of my expectations for online fps or the unintuitive nature of what they've decided to do.
I will say that boost running was fucking awesome when it first happened. I thought it would take forever to get somewhere. Who needs a vehicle when you can run that fast?
If you're not killing people fast enough then you didn't spec your weapon damage high enough. Try customizing a bit. And locational damage is hugely important in the game, as every character has a bunch of specific armour points, so if your bullets are spraying all over them, yes it will take forever to kill them. If you pop a few shots into someone's head with a pistol or get on them with a machine gun at close range, they'll drop quite fast though.
This game is probably doomed to failure though, in that it really heavily relies on squad play, a bunch of soloers running around is just a random cluster fuck. Shame I couldn't get any of my friends to play it on the PC...
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it.
