Hmm...so many unanswered questions. I can't say how excited I am just yet but I'm definitely interested.
Unless whatever this is can turn a PS3 into a PS4 via software updates, I'm going to love to see how their marketing machine reconciles a new console after telling us the PS3 would survive multiple generations.

Its too soon for a PS4. The PS3 is still good for another year or two at least. But nonetheless, I am a wee bit interested.
I'm sure its to do with 3D making the experience feel like a new console. Processing power and graphics haven't progressed far enough to warrant a new console.

It's bulls#it marketing, no way they're actually going to announce a new home console at E3. They're just going to brag about how adding 3D support to the PS3 has made it a new console like Microsoft bragged the NXE making the 360 a new console.
On top of that, financially they couldn't justify selling a new console at a loss for another five years now that they actually have a chance of making money on the PS3.

For all the "blah blah blah 10 year plan blah blah blah Sony lied blah blah bullshit", note that the PS3 was first announced back in 2005, roughly halfway through the PS2's 10 year cycle, and was released 6 years into the cycle; and now at 4 years into the PS3's cycle (not exactly halfway through but whatever) the PS4 is possibly being announced.

I like how this is supposed to generate excitement, but is just making people upset with Sony's BS. Here's hoping it's just another idiotic marketing ploy where they're saying an update is going to make it the PS4 (kind of like Microsoft's crap last year). If it's a new console they're going to have some explaining to do.
I highly doubt it's a PS4, the PS3 is powerful enough, surely, to just get 3D tacked on via an update.
My hopes are that it means firmware version 4.0, and therefore the continued 'v' still in those teasers.. if the PS4 does come from this early, I'm simply not buying it, PS3 had MGS4 to torment me to buy it, PS4 has nothing yet u_u
My guess: PS3 firmware 4.0 will bring a new experience that Sony will market as an entirely new console.

People honestly think that Sony is going to release the ps4 already? They just got to a point where ps3 cost what the same amount it takes to make them, I doubt they want to do that again. Also an announcement this big would be best saved for e3, not some viral video methinks.
I'm on the boat that this "PS4" is really just "PS3+". If you add 3D visuals with Move and the new premium PSN service, it is almost like a "new" console. I'll take the wait and see approach to this one though.
Maybe this is like PS3.5 or something. Like a console to run standard PS3 games in 3D at full power due to the PS3's inability to do so. Either way, I'm not fucking buying a new home console for many years.
3D + Move = 4th dimension that being YOU THE PLAYER. It will be a total overhaul of the PSN and XMB. The whole visual interface will be different. Thus seeming like a new console to combat the NEW XBOX FUTURE, and the BLACK WII. It's all rebranding to make something seem totally new while we're at the halfway point of the life cycle.
That being said, when SONY does announce the next actual console in 3-4 years, will it be called the PS5 then? Since they already used PS4?

Nah, not a chance that they have a new console coming. Even with Sony's questionable record as of late, they wouldn't be ballsy enough to pull a move like that.

Well, they just said that the PSPgo was "only a test", so hyping up for the next generation console wouldn't be out of reach IMO. Still, would piss me off too.
