SDCC: Sony's Beat Sketch is the new Mario Paint photo

So maybe it isn't exactly Mario Paint, but it sure seemed that way. The upcoming PlayStation Move title, previously known as Sing and Draw, allows us to turn our TV into a glorified version of MSpaint, complete with drum loops and audio samples to keep you entertained.

I had a chance to try it out and to be honest, I wasn't very impressed with anything but the control itself. The accuracy of the wand was dead on and makes for an impressive tech demo -- however, the poorly lit room did nothing to help the Eye Toy in terms of video quality, and the current build of the game lacks many of the features that are currently in the works. In hindsight, it failed to keep my interest, but I could easily see how little kids might enjoy playing with it.

Features such as the use of multiple wands, video recording and more are currently being considered, however there was no word on if the features will be ready by the time Tokyo Game Show rolls around. The game is currently set to launch with PlayStation Move in the fall, and will be receiving a retail release in Japan, but as it stands, it'll likely be a PSN exclusive here in the US. Hopefully we'll be able see more at Toyko Game Show, or at Gamescom later this year.

If this were for Kinect, it would get derided in the comments section as being for kids. But because it's for Move, it will get praised for its technical accuracy.

The biggest problem I have with Move is that while the tech behind it seems to be spot-on, the majority of the game lineup is so uninteresting and uninspiring. Where's the fun factor ?

I don't mind having the odd kids game/app in the list. Problem with natal is that they're ALL kids games.

inb4 penis drawings, everywhere.

The only way I see myself buying PS Move is if I could find it on sale, which won't be hard.

They're not ALL kids game... I saw a footage of Half Life 2 *or was it Portal 2?* being played on a Kinect, but since he was holding something, why not get a Move instead? I mean, isn't the whole point of Kinect is that YOU are the controller??

@Eskimo Bob - indeed it is.

Getting back to the article at hand, I just have one thing to say. I'll stick with MS Paint, Sony. But thanks for such useless shovelware.

@oish "i saw a video that may or may not have been" is not really a list of confirmed titles.

When halo and gears get natal support, announced and confirmed I will stand corrected. But so far, natal is for kids.

Sorry I meant same "Style" as music offering.

I don't want some Wii music drumset I can bang on, I want the notes in front of me so I can build a song!

If it's not free, it's 100% redundant. At least it seems like it now. Sure, it's fun for a bit but only for a bit. It's not a professional illustration-program or anything.

The Problem with Natal is it tracks general body shape. The problem with Move is that it's a glorified Wii. The problem with the Wii is that it's the Wii (though Nintendo seems to have suddenly decided to start fixing it's fail). In any case all consoles are obsolete now that the 3DS has been anounced. All hail 3DS.
