2D platformers have long been my favorite genre of games, since I first played Super Mario Bros. as a widdle child.
Also, recent 2D platformers such as NSMB Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Limbo, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Mega Man 9, etc. have been among the best games I've played in recent memory.
In summation, I WILL throw my money in the face of a store clerk and run off with this game, cackling madly and shit.

And that's why I hate modern gaming. Platformers have been replaced by FPS and 3rd person shooters. All we have in terms of platforming goodness comes from Nintendo, who, except for devlopper like retro and Intelligent systems, keep serving the same reheated formula, and smaller scale or indy developpers.
