Also, Pac-Man chasing Mega Man at the end was the best thing ever.
I love Ryu, but from a character design perspective, he's no work of genius.
Cancel each other out, fair game for trolling. FIGHT!
Well said.
As much as I love fighting games, they all seem to be plagued with character re-skins.
But they've developed him quite well, struggling with a balance of inner evil power but wanting to be the best. His antagonists in Bison wanting to mind control him as a weapon and Akuma wanting to bring out his rage so he has a worthy opponent is quite the story.
Compared to Tekken. Kazyuas evil, tries to kill his dad, loves the devil, bends some other fighter bitch over a couch and there's a new devil, who goes a touch emo and then is forgotten about as a main character to make someone else main for a bit.
If you think about the different fight styles of the two games too, unless one of the sides is radically changed, it can't work. And if it's radically changed, it's a tad pointless and we may have had CvS 3 or a new Capcom All-Stars.
@Hansey, admitedly after tekken 3 everything went to shit story wise, but I couldn't agree with you more that this was wasted resources on what SHOULD have been capcom vs snk 3.
You don't need to be a work of genius, to be the og of fighting games. well, barring works like Yie Air Kung Fu.

Even then, I'd be WTFing at VF Vs. SF, even though they're my fave 3D and 2D/2.5D fighters.
At least there's SSF4/BlazBlue/SF3/TvC, a bunch of XBLA SNK fighters and, depending on how they turn out, MvC3/KOFXIII/MK.
Wish people who've played MK would stop saying it's awesome. I've only ever liked UMK3, bit it's sounding good.
Yeah, I don't really care about the story of Street Fighter or Tekken. What matters to me is the characters, and what the express visually, both in their fighting styles and their character design.
When it comes to that, I think Kazuya and Nina are both pretty rad.
As for the people who compare this to a "serious" crossover like Capcom vs SNK 2, please don't insult my intelligence. The characters blended together really well thanks to the similar play styles of the fighters from the two companies. There was even the whole Ryu-Ryo-Dan thing. If you were to mix Tekken with a game that fit its play style, you'd want Virtua Fighter. That would be a more likely comparison.
In the end, I am frustrated by this. It won't stop me from playing the other (good) Capcom games I love, but the wound still stings.
I always skipped story in fighting games until Alpha 3. The way everyones stories linked together with that amount of characters was fairly genius, especially considering you could have a bad ending too <3
@TheOGB
PacMan can save this ;)
Fair enough. Alpha 3 spoiled me :) I do like the Mishima family hair though. Other than Heiachi's balding, it's good genes.
What if this wasn't "Street Fighter V Tekken", and instead was just a new Street Fighter IV upgrade with tons of new characters? What if you didn't know who Kazuma and Nina were already? What if you let go of whatever resentment you may have towards Tekken and it's fans, and just get excited about a new fighter from Capcom that uses the SF4 engine?
If you're not a Tekken fan, I can see why you wouldn't be interested in Tekken X Street Fighter, but if you're an SF fan, why wouldn't you want a new SF game? Just because it has Tekken characters in it?
That's weird to me.
Also, I'd like CvS3 or Darkstalkers 4 as well, but we already have three games from those two series. It's nice to get something totally new, don't you think?
But if you had a bevy of beauties (fighting games) vying for your attention, you'd probably ignore the inbred one (CxT).
Sure, they might be wild in the sack, but you've only got personality and looks to go on beforehand.
Inbreds can be super hot sometimes. A lot of people wrote of TvC because of it's bizarre linage, and they ended up missing out on one of the best Vs. fighters yet.
Oh, and I truly do feel that tekken went to shit after tag. The true last good tekken game.
I'll admit, I really dislike Tekken. What I am more concerned about is the number of adjustments they will have to make to the SF4 engine to balance the game play. In a game where there are projectiles, teleporters, and men with stretching limbs, how are they going to fight in a wealth of characters who rely primarily on close quarters combat and juggling to get their damage in? The only character I can really think of (aside from the notoriously cheap boss characters) who can contend with all that is Yoshimitsu. And it is kind of boring that most of the "new" characters are going to be close quarters fighters when there is already a wealth of excellent brawlers in the Street Fighter line up.
And that's not even bringing the fact that Tekken has a Left-Right button system as opposed to a weak-Strong system for their attack buttons.
It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

They've developed him quite well. He wants to be the best, like he is Goku in DragonballZ or something. Bison is his best enemy who has emo feelings toward him, while Akuma keeps on being mean and makes Ryu mad.
Compared to Tekken, Kazuya had grown up raised by his grandfather and trained to enter the Iron Fist Tournament. He than faced his father whom has been overtaken by the darkness within. Ultimately Kazuya defeats his father and inherits that darkness.
lol, fighting game story lines
in the end the guys making this game know what theyre doing, i doubt theyd just make a sack of unbalanced shit.
...dary.
I don’t care as long as we get Zangief vs Kuma because that needs to happen. Hell, that should be a game all by itself.
Capcom is amazing at taking characters from other games and making them work in 2D fighters. If they can make Roll, Saki, Frank West, and Amateratsu work in a 2D fighter, I'm sure they'll have no problem with the cast from Tekken.
no! even better! as mega shoots his buster at pacman, pacman eats his shots, mega freaks and turns and runs away! (you know, to retaliate for mega chasing the ghost...gotta keep it fair)
Anyone claiming that Ryu is anymore than a poster boy is reading way too much into the "story" of Street Fighter.
