SDCC: Cosplayer brings a real AR-15 rifle to Comic-com photo

Wow. Just wow.

I heard some Comic-Con security guys talking earlier today. They were laughing at some of the props used by cosplayers, talking about how real some of them looked. It turns out that some of the stuff cosplayers are bringing in are really real. Like AR-15 rifle real.

No, really. On the first day of the event one attendee tried to enter with an AR-15 rifle. A real one. Like some Rambo sh*t.

Today was almost as bad. Sign On San Diego says that the weapons check security's haul for the second day of SDCC consisted of two machetes, one dagger, a commando-style K-bar knife and a lead pipe. One of the machetes was two feet long.

Damn. These people are serious about their cosplay.

I didn't know Sylvester Stallone was such a popular cosplay.

I bet they are all coming after Capcom. Lets hope Comic-con security is as skilled as Rambo.

Well, to be fair, buying a real machete is much easier than making a realistic one.

Yeah, it's all fun and games until some asshole dressed as Boba Fett shows up with a nuke strapped to his back.

I went 2 years ago, it was badass for the LOST Final Season session, and got to rock my FALLOUT 101 Cosplay. There were tons of people with some crazy guns. Can't walk 10 feet without seeing someone with a weapon of some sort, literally.

I dunno, I think if Capcom has a booth at Comic-Con, it's more likely to be targeted than just random cosplayers...

To be fair, if I had real firearms or machetes I would also take them with me to comic-con.

Wait, no I wouldn't, because I am not insane!

As a responsible gun owner, I have to say these people scare the hell out of me. They ruin the fun for everyone else, and give people the impression that everyone with a gun is nuts.
Guns have a place, and that's generally not in a large, crowded convention hall where they are explicitly banned.

Also, it's kind of sad that the only news site I've seen in years that calls it an "AR-15 rifle" instead of an "M-16 assault rifle" is a gaming one, rather than CNN or the BBC.

where the fuck did somebody get an ar-15?
And isn't that kinda old? I'm pretty sure it's been replaced by the M4, which means your Call of Duty cosplay is now inaccurate.

@kid23455:
Not really. The Army still uses M16s, though the people that get stuck with them aren't happy about it. Also, MW2 had both the M16 and the M4.

@kid23455:
AR-15 is a pretty common gun in the US. Semi-auto, .223, fun for target shooting, available at most shops. Aside from being retarded expensive, they're fine guns.
Also, the M-16 and M-4 vary mostly in barrel length, weight, and trigger group, but for the most part are the same gun, since the M4 started out as a carbine version of the M-16A2.

AR-15s are retarded expensive? Low-end good models like the Smith and Wesson can be had for around 700 if you catch one of their deals. I've seen less respectable models for as low as 500. About the only thing I've seen to beat low-end ARs for cheap .223 carbine are Saigas at 400.
