SDCC: Avatars get Gears of War COG and Locust uniforms photo

Here we go. Now that Microsoft is confident in charging money for its useless Avatar clothing, we're finally getting stuff that almost approaches interesting. No more sunglasses or silly shoes, we're actually getting videogame-themed clothes for our videogame Avatars on a videogame machine. How about that? The only trouble is, we now have to pay for it.

Revealed at the Comic-Con "Gearsiverse" panel, these uniforms will allow your Avatar to represent either the COG or the Locust. Since Microsoft has a silly rule that says Avatars are not allowed to look "inhuman," the Locust armor looks about ten times more lame than it actually should. In fact, it looks incredibly stupid and there's no way I'd have even guessed it was based on the Locust without being told first.

The armor sets should be available when the update hits next month, and they don't make the Avatars look any less like effette, twee, camp little fashion models.

Not even Dynasty Warriors clothes would make me buy Avatar stuff.

I'm not used to the C.O.G. spinning in circles with that girly smile on their face when I want them to do something.

Wow, the locust clothing makes them look like a ferry.

I assume a lancer will be added as an accessory? I wouldn't mind buying that COG suit if it doesn't cost too much.

I really feel sorry for the people who actually spend money on this stupid shit. And I'm talking about all these gimmick avatars, including the Home shit.

Well all of this was inevitable. Come on fess up you thought this would of been happening from day zero with microsoft. The fact its started and more importantly CONTINUED as free it was more than inevitable people will cry foul.

But what did you exspect avatars are beyond Mii's now with the level of customisation. they've elevated to sackboys etc. as ppl buy thier custom content like hotcakes and we all know microsoft loves money. Your all pissed cause your thinking you said it first and arent getting paid.

Did you guys even consider the possibility that maybe this armor is unlockable. This would be pretty effin sweet if so, though all the novelty would be taken away when everyone has the exact same Gears costumes on.

Both left and right avatars that wear COG armor are going to die... Also, they lack of muscles.

This is the kind of thing I always picture avatars to have. I own a 360 to play games, so game related stuff is what I want for my avatar, more than normal stuff.

I'd rather see this stuff coming on game dvds as unlockables, than paying straight out for it alone.

Sweet!
Only thing now Microsoft needs to add now to the avatars is if you could dress up as the other following characters.
ex.)
---Master Chief (Halo)
---Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell)
---Dead or Alive characters (Dead or Alive series)
---Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden)
---Sheppard (Mass Effect)
Multiplatform Game Outfits:
ex.)
---Raiden (Metal Gear Solid: Rising)
---Street Fighter (outfits)
---Mortal Kombat (outfits)
---Dante (Devil May Cry)
---Dante (Dante's Inferno)
---Call of Duty Outfits (Call of Duty 4/Call of Duty: World at War/Modern Warfare 2)
etc.
Movie Character Outfits.
ex.)
---Batman
---Joker
---The Watchmen
---Star Trek
---Transformers
---G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra
etc.

Perhaps this will be a great start for now.

Also I wonder...
Why can't our avatars carry any cool items or weapons?
ex.)
---Gears of War Outfits (Where's my Lancer?)
---Halo outfits (Where's my Buzz Sword?)
(You kinda get my drift.)

And... these you have to spend Microsoft Moon Bucks to get? And NOT unlock in new Gears of War 2 DLC? Preposterous.

Only an idiot would pay for avatar clothing. Good thing for Microsoft that there's a lot of idiots out there.

@dirtyd89

Wait.. mAstuercheif was frum HALLO?

OMG THANKS FOR REMINDERING!

But no really, I gotta say, none of this is cool. None of it. This is gamerpics to the extreme-but lame. You're going to look like a complete tool for buying these, and thats probably because avatars look like complete tools themselves.

The Locust suit would work if you make your Avatar bigger and coloured more like a Locust in the first place.

Too bad there won't be a Lancer because it's a gun. The Locust armor makes me think of a dystopian medic. o_O

Also, I'll stick to looking like an ODST.

This just doesn't look right. It only highlights why Avatars don't work as well as their counterparts.

Where Sackboy is cute, Miis are quirky, Avatars sit in some kind of awkward void where they have nothing going for them. I think this is why they can't pull this kind of thing off.

It's about fucking time. I've been seaching for something worthwhile to spend my MS points on since I bought them. Good on Microsoft for eventually delivering the kind of DLC that everyone can get behind.

This would make so much more sense to me if this stuffed was earned like gamerpoints rather than purchased.

This sort of stuff should be free, achievement based or a code included when you buy it, since they're so fond of including codes to get you to buy a first-hand copy. Basically you're paying to advertise their games if you have to buy this stuff.
