Either this latest video for Army of Two: The 40th Day is superbly cut, or the dialog for Salem and Rios has grown up ever so slightly. As detailed after the break, the game will have "morality moments" where you are prompted to make a moral choice by hitting "A" or "B," and then watch a cut scene unfold.
Seeing as how the outcomes of these choices end up snowballing into some drastic event, EA has brought on comic artists Chris Bachalo and Jock, hence the relevance to Comic-Con. Where do they come into play, you ask? Their illustrations depict the "long term impacts" of your choices, that's where.
For an example, take a look at the two images in the gallery below. The best part of the video, easily, is when they show footage of two gamers arguing over whether to go with choice A or choice B in The 40th Day. This game is serious business, folks. Real talk.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Morality by pressing A or B? What is it with game designers unable to go through with the 'grey area'. Even when they attempt it, it's usually unrewarding like Mass Effect or just some balancing act like Fallout 3.
Stevil: Maybe they've had a similar experience in play testing to what Sucker Punch had with inFamous. Playing "neutral" just isn't that fun. But that game is really about telling two halves of one story that are mutually exclusive but both required for the whole. Personally I found that mechanic much more accessible than trying to guess what the developers think is "good" or "evil" and I'd much rather see them focus on making a mechanic that's fun than worrying about grafting some arbitrary interpretation of make believe into a game and expecting me to buy it as real.
What's much more important here is what THE FUCK do they think they're doing with this game?!?! Does EA not realize that the first game sold pretty well BECAUSE of the idiotic fratboy antics? Have one button press to "bro it up" and three to switch weapons was awesome! And being able to make your buddy play air guitar while he's getting wasted by machine gun fire? That's just fucking amazing.
If there isn't a "bro" button in 40th Day and no one is discussing their favorite member of the Wu Tang Clan during a firefight they're asking for serious trouble and will alienate nearly the entire audience from the first game.
Oh enough with this moral bullshit. Of course your action has consequences. Dead enemies are the consequences of shooting people. There better be plenty of humor and bromance to fix that up.
You know what? I welcome this kind of thing, especially if it results in a change of gameplay or storyline. I don't know why people are so against this when you play other games and the story remains the same every single time.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I actually liked the notion of the characters trying to do something right and fucking it up horribly. That was only about thirty seconds of gameplay, granted, but this was a glimpse at a guy for whom everything he touches goes completely to hell.
And I know, the law of trailers means that what they just showed us was the entirety of character development for the entire game, but imagine if they could keep up that sort of storytelling.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
When I play the game, I plan to keep my mom on the line so I can confirm all of my moral decisions with her before progressing further.
Another morality gimmick. Yawn.

It's better to have options, and more outcomes.
