British? Looking forward to
Scribblenauts? Worried that you'll have to write "pants" instead of "trousers" or "
The UK Office" instead of "
The Office"? Fear thee not, gentle limey friends, for the wonderful DS game (released in the US today) will be designed specifically for Brits when it launches in the UK.
The 20,000+ word vocabulary is to be converted into Her Majesty's Royal English, as confirmed by Warner UK this week.
"Do you know your eggplant from your aubergine? How about your binky from your dummy? You may think you know your pants from your trousers but if you find yourself in the US, you'd be going for a very different look," stated the publisher. "Fear not mistaken pants-over-trouser-wearers, as Scribblenauts developer, 5th Cell, has gone out of its way to localise the UK release of Scribblenauts to include words specifically for the UK market.
"Faucets, popsicles, sidewalks, diapers and, of course, the mess that is football and soccer, will confuse British DS owners no more ..."
This is great news, of course, and quite necessary. While men of the world such as I are fluent in both English and American, those Brits who are ignorant of everything outside their own coastline would be left floundering without a full translation. Rest assured that there will be no cultural barriers with
Scribblenauts. Hooray!
Anyway it should be the other way around Americans should use the oxford dictonary is the language is English
We handed you your ass once already. You just don't know when to stay down, do you?
Please shut up.
I will forever more call "American Football" Handegg. Thank you for that enlightenment.
I also love the ignorance from people saying American English is better, even though it's called English, from England.
If half of you even know where England is, of course. It's in the UK.
Go figure.
It was just a joke, douche. Lighten up.
What's with all of the people taking everything so seriously? Is this the National Take Everything Serious day in England?
"Rest assured that there will be no english cultural barriers with Scribblenauts."
I think my english is decent enough to play this, but a shitton o people won't be able to experiment Scribblenauts.
Yes. yes, it is. 0_0
ps: :p
I wonder if entering the phrase "fanny pack" in the UK version will get different results from the American version?
@Jetsetlemming:
Faucet = tap
Sidewalk = pavement
If the EU version is the same as the UK version, then I'm importing. Guaranteed.
@KoKoO Psy: Sorry, but you Aussies are alone on the thongs front. However, I believe that you, like us across the ditch don't refer to underwear or undies as pants.
Couldn't they of just merged both US and UK English together? They already have alternate words to summon the same objects.
So what if you didn't think it was funny? I did. My friends did. Why should I care if you didn't?
Talk about an overinflated self importance.
Anyway, this is getting silly. I mean why are we squabbling in a positive article about Scribblenauts? Yay Scribblenauts! :D
Not being funny or anything but don't bring up RL friends in an internet argument - it just makes you look like you don't really have any, just sayin'.
Cue you calling me a douche etc...
Yay Scribblenauts!
