Scribblenauts 2 confirmed, out this fall photo

The latest issue of Nintendo Power has spilled its beans on the Internet, confirming that 5th Cell's ambitious DS game, Scribblenauts, is getting a sequel. Scribblenauts 2 is coming this fall, and they've actually managed to build upon the original. How? Why, through the clever use of adjectives.

10,000 more words are coming, allowing you to combine adjectives with items to create new things (Turbo Priest!). A level editor, 120 new stages, better hints, and improved controls are all being promised as well. Perhaps this sequel will finally live up to the huge hype and potential of the original.

Latest issue of Nintendo Power says Earthworm Jim remake for DSiWare, and...Scribblenauts 2 (reviews as well)! [GoNintendo]

Combine adjatives with nouns? You mean like "Gigantic Cock".

All I needed to hear was "improved controls" Haven't played the original lately but seeing this game concept expanded is still a really exciting prospect.

It only took two games to maybe (?) get it right! Can't wait for the hype train on this one.

Scribblenauts should in theory only be limited by the player's imagination and creativity, but it scares me that I think I would be quickly bored with Scribblenauts. would that be my or the game's fault then?
hmm..

Scribblenauts was ok at best. Make a sequel to Lock's Quest and I'll be all over it.

Shit, I'm just excited for the Earthworm Jim remake for DSiWare. FUCK. YES. One of my favorite 16-bit platformers ever.

"jim, not a fan of earthworm jim?"

When they decide to do anything but remakes, I'll get excited. I'm kind of sick of playing the same Earthworm Jim game ten billion times.

Holy shit. I think I'm actually more excited about this than Portal 2. If Level 5 can just fix the control issues in the first game, it can become something truly amazing. :D

@xaq404: they also gave some shovelware like Solitare a higher score, so I wouldn't take their scores too seriously.

Maybe they'll finally stop making you move characters with a stylus. THERE'S A BLOODY D PAD ON THE THING! Stylus for selecting things, D-pad for movement. Please!

I didn't really see this coming. If 5th Cell really looks back at its mistakes in Scribblenauts 1, then this might just be the amazing platformer that Scribblenauts should have been, rather than just a really cool toy.

I really enjoyed the first game, controls be damned. if they're improving the controls and adding adjectives -- something I missed from the first game -- this could be a new favourite of mine! Scribblenauts 1 is just one of those games that truly deserve a sequel, if not only to fix it's flaws.

I don't know what it was about the first one, but I didn't enjoy it too much. I played it for a couple of days and pick it up now and again, but for the most part haven't played it much. It's supposed to have so much replay value and it was hyped up so much that you could do whatever you wanted, but you're severely limited in many aspects.

Maybe the second one can fix it, maybe not. It's a good concept, but the actual game needed a lot more work.

ZEE GREEN SQUIGGLY GRAMMATICAL ERROR LINES! ZEY BURRRRRRRRRRRN!

Adjectives, huh.......I wonder how that'll turn out. Also, am I, like, the only one here who didn't really have a problem with the original's controls?

They could release the first one again, with controls that didn't make me want to slit Max's suicidal little throat and I'd buy it day one.

Improved controls? Thank fucking Christ. I'll buy it for sure if you move Maxwell with the D-Pad. That's really all it needed. And more words? Sweet! I just hope they test the game more thoroughly this time...

But jesus fucking christ, the controls were horrid. Touch screen am failure.

@The Average Guy: You never repetitively tried to jump on top of an object, only to have Maxwell walk into it and push it around?

Absolutely loved that game. Had a great story and was super fun.
I'd be all over it with you.

hopefully 'improved controls' means Maxwell no longer runs full speed into the lava instead of stopping and picking up the star sitting at the edge

I agree with all of you, "improved controls" damn well better mean you use the D-pad, because the first game's touch controls were just terrible. I still enjoyed the game; I just didn't go anywhere near the "action" levels, they were just unplayable.
