Next week's XBLA offering is entitled Screwjumper! and as you can tell from the above video, it's more like "falling" than really jumping. Not sure where that other half of that title works into the whole deal, either, but maybe that's none of my business.
Featuring four singleplayer modes as well as head-to-head multiplayer, there are 20 levels for you to fall through while chaining attacks, blowing stuff up, and doing lots of red/green/blue/purple things in general. Let's ignore the blatant XNA-ness of it and cling to the hope that it might be really fun to play, shall we? You can find out for sure on November 14th when it becomes available, and I'll be sure to let you know if it was worth the wait.
If this was wiiware, I'd be somewhat interested on account of how kickass the skydiving minigame in raving rabbids is. For 360 though, I think I'll pass.
Am I the only person who has been pretty disappointed with the Xbox Live Arcade offerings lately? The last game I bought was Bomberman Live (w/ Mr. Destructoid happiness.) Some of the games that are being released are just craptastic.
I'll try this like every other Arcade title, but I suspect I'll delete it just like most recent titles.
skydiving in pilotwings was my favorite part, Ill be sure to check out the trial.
@PraiseChaos, I think XBLA is stronger now then its ever been, Puzzle Fighter, Mutant Storm Empire, Puzzle Quest, EXIT, Every Extend Extra, Tetris, all in the past few months and all are excellent. I couldn't be happier.
This is going to teach the children of today to jump down mineshafts and attempt to hit as many things as possible on the way down. Somebody alert the mass media.
Wow. I played this way back on an early development version. It was a LOT different. Instead of crashing into stuff, you had to fall for as long as possible and land on platforms without killing yourself. Then after getting to the bottom, you had to hit something, then jet back up to escape, while dodging all the platforms. It was a competitive race between players.
It was kind of fun, but honestly it didn't really make a lot of sense. And even now... it still really doesn't. I'm surprised it made it to a release product.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Trailer was kind of 'mehtastic,' but one of those 4 modes could be sweet.
I'll try this like every other Arcade title, but I suspect I'll delete it just like most recent titles.
