Scope this Halo pixel demake from Mojang's art director photo

Over a year ago, a pixel artist by the name of junkboy whipped up a whole bunch of demakes of popular game properties, turning Killzone into Contra, Brütal Legend into a LucasArts point-and-click, and more. I don't know how many of you are aware, but junkboy is actually Markus Toivonen, Mojang's art director. I guess he's been so busy helping Notch take over the world that he hasn't had much time for personal projects as of late.

Over on his deviantART page, Markus has just uploaded a pair of pixel masterpieces -- a mockup of some gothic beat-em-up and the Halo demake teased above. These have actually been available on his Tumblr since the summer, but hopefully this will give his work a little extra exposure.

I flat-out love pixel art (who doesn't?), so the more eyeballs on this stuff, the better.

Nice art. Anyone remember the playable halo demake? That one fella made a bunch of demakes and the halo was quite fun. Halo zero or something?

This is badass and all but....Doin the retro thing is great for all the nostalgia boners in the world but to me this seems like puting the engine from a ferrari into a lawnmower.

It looks a lot like X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse for the SNES - and I love it for it.

Good point Creo, but that doesn't keep them rednecks from putting Hemis in their grills.

And yeah there was a playable demake called Halo Zero. Lots of big games get demakes. That I remember so did L4D and Portal.

Because games were better in the 90's? I know that's subjective, and I only half mean it anyways.. These screenshots are gorgeous!

So if make means to create, and remake means to create in a new direction... demake means to destroy something?

He destroyed Halo? Good job, I guess.
