Scientology PWNED; its meaning AWOL

12:50 PM on 03.21.2007   |   Niero

With a name like Scientology Pwned, you'd think that the angry little shooter would eventually knock you over the head with a message, meaning, or political statement. For better or worse, the subject matter of the game is to kill as many Scientologists, special affairs agents, and sea orgs (never got that far) as possible. It plays like a Smash TV machine with a jammed joystick due to it's intentional lock-aim system so negotiating firing positions is a little awkward, but it's a quick free download and the music will make you long for the Legend of Kage. Indygamer sums it up:
The premise of Scientology Pwned is to essentially shoot everything in sight. The single unobstructed map has four enemy generators that create progressively tougher enemies. Use the arrow keys to move your character, and hold the control key to shoot. Your shooting direction will automatically lock when the control key is held down. Alternatively, the shift key can be held to lock your shooting direction when the control key is not held down. Music was composed by Jonathan Mak, creator of Everyday Shooter.
I'm with Simon on this one: "Can we have some games dealing with controversial subjects with some depth to them?" Columbine RPG is so 2006. You can download the free game from Zi-Xiao Liang's site (PC).

Haha, nice reference. South Park kicks ass. Scientology is gay. Really gay.

Nothing wrong with sucking as long as it's consensual. Try not to fail.

I dont want to criticize.. but.. isnt this a regular smash tv clone with "Scientology" stamped in the title? You can pretty much change that title for anything "Mexicans", "Americans", "Politicians", "Furrys", "Kids named after scooby doo characters" and the game stays the same.

At least Columbine Massacre TRIES to show you an story and a perspective. (is an awful game but at least it tries)

Is difficult to get Games to actually say something instead of just entertaining, but.. we are getting there. It took just as much time for the movies too.

Is the final boss battle against Tom Cruise? Now that would rock.

gameboi i was thinking the same thing.

azrael, apparently you didn't see the scientology "cross" emblazoned on the game. We both know that scientology trademarked the cross long before smash tv was around.

man i could go for some super smash tv multiplayer snes style right about now.

Sea Org originates from Scientology's beloved dead leader's obsession with all things nautical. Hence they all run around pretending to be ship captains complete with ludicrous uniforms and phony medals. It would be comical if it Scientology weren't ruining so many people's lives. The funniest part is that L Ron Hubbard was a miserable captain with a dismal war record. Read Ron the "War Hero" (http://www.xs4all.nl/~kspaink/cos/warhero/) to see what a incompetent captain, pathological liar, and fraudster he really was.

This is so sick. I am sure that some f***ing a**hole will find some "fun" with that. The next case of murder or harm of a Scientologist might be traced right back to this game, Mr. Arroganto Zi-Xiao. Wanna be a murder? Well done.

It hopefully does not take long until someone answers with game called "Zi-Xiao PWNED" and gives him a right response, his blood splattering on the screen, his limbs flying in all directions, his life slowly running out of his body and his low cries for his mother fading away.
