While it was probably a foregone conclusion that Splinter Cell Conviction was going to get a demo at some point, and we had already heard that we would be getting one in January (that was when the game was set to launch in February) we now have uber-official confirmation that a demo is coming for the game. When? Where? How? No one really knows, but considering the fact that the game itself doesn't seem to ever be coming out why sweat the details? That April 13 release date is a lie, I tell you!

Anyway, we may see this before the game launches or after, and there is no word on what level or section of the game it will be. The confirmation was released in the above video, which answers some fan questions about the game, one of which was about a demo. Creative Director Maxime Béland is about as noncommittal as a committed person can be when discussing the demo.

Of all the major games I'm interested in, Conviction is actually the one I most want a demo for. While much of what I've seen and played looks awesome, I'm just not so sure about the new direction they're taking. Hopefully the demo lands before the game does and I get a chance to try it out more.

I've seen the game in action and it was buggy as hell. It definitely wasn't sneaking oriented but had a stealth aspect to it. I would say it's like a slightly more action oriented version of MGS4.

And let's be real, a "more action oriented" version of MGS4 is not a stealth game at all.

I'm hoping this has more stealth in it.

I saw them playing it at CES. It had a stealth option but really the best solution was to kill everybody as it's easy as hell with the new system. You have to do a few stealth kills to recharge the auto headshot meter but it's very much an action game at heart.
