Say goodbye to EA Los Angeles and hello to Danger Close photo

Electronic Arts Los Angeles, the team behind Medal of Honor, has opted for a more memorable name. Going forward, the studio will be known as Danger Close. Those who are familiar with military terminology or have played any war-centric shooters in the last few years will surely recognize the term.

Here's the reasoning behind this sudden change:

"Medal of Honor is the first game to fall under the Danger Close studio. And because the term "Danger Close" is all about pushing the boundaries, it's the perfect fit for Medal of Honor given the team’s decision to take on a story that is both controversial and one that needs to be told."

A reasonable explanation for a rather neat name. If nothing else, the logo absolutely rocks.

This is kind of like how Starbucks rebranded a bunch of its stores to look like local shops.

"You said it was a bomb."

"No I didn't, I said SHE's the bomb. C'mon."

"She is the bomb?"

The name and logo are creative, catchy, and just plain fun. I consider this a much better choice than the say "Respawn Entertainment". While the former IW team's kung fu is black belt, "respawning" is to entertainment, what farting is to a taco dinner. Can't be helped, but nobody enjoys it except the dude who caused it to happen.

Is it close as in "near", or close as in "shut"?

It's a perfect name when you consider what a giant stinking turd the Medal of Honor reboot is. Combined with the fact that EA wants to axe the LA studio anyway (Or at least parts of it).

Might as well have renamed themselves "Why haven't you fired us yet? Studios"

Trolling? Have you played the new Medal of Honor or seen what they've done to the Command and Conquer series?

Am I supposed to respect that?

I've been hearing a lot of negative stuff about the new MoH game. Now I haven't played it myself, but honestly, I'm not surprised. I know it's a sign of the times, but being a fan of the old MoH games, this one just feels too "me too-ish" to CoD. I think they should have just kept it WW2. To all those folk who claim that WW2 is dead, all I say is: wait and see what modern-era shooters will be in about 10 years or so.

considering DICE took over for their mp and added in their oh so popular 'prone is rare in combat' so you can only crouch b.s. (yes a dev for a military based game said prone is rare in combat on his twitter) retarded spawn system, unbalanced weapons for those who play more. by that i mean a ranked up fellow can have an LMG but i cant? and basically having the look and feel of bfbc with no medics i might add, but no destruct environments i will not be buying this game no matter what name the studio calls themselves. and danger close just reminds me of every person in mw2 mp that uses launchers. I used to love MOH but this is pure shite. go back to wwII its not a stale area for war but modern warfare sure is becoming stale. At least Treyarch got it right by going after a non modern warfare era.

It's nice to see EA at least appearing to give their studios some identity; it's become somewhat disheartening lately to see so many studios bought up by big publishers and re-branded [Publisher] [Location]... also, yeah; that logo is awesome.

The one good thing to come of mw2.

I now shout danger close when I call airstrikes or mortars on close locations in mag.

The game is pretty bad, so bad, I do expect the studio to close after the game is released.

"Danger Close" just seems to regurgitate feelings of hatred towards spawn grenades and cross-map grenade launchers. Should have added a "Pro" after it just to rub it in some more.
