Save ten bucks on Episodes from Liberty City today photo

I think my favorite thing about Grand Theft Auto IV are the expansions released for it. The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were nice bites of Liberty City. Nothing so grand and epic as Niko's tale, but less complexity isn't always a bad thing. I actually think I'd quite like the next release to be a series of shorter stories with different protagonists.

Anyway, I'm straying way off the point. If you haven't had a chance to check out Episodes from Liberty City yet, maybe today is a good day to pick it up. The standalone game is reduced by ten dollars on all platforms as Amazon's Deal of the Day. That puts it at $30 for the consoles and $20 on PC. Not shabby.

Not only would this be a good idea, it would also be a return to it's roots. The original GTA actually had 8 protagonists that you could select from.

I'd also like them to return to GTA2's gang system, where your behavior determines which gangs offer you jobs. It added replay value.

No thanks, I just cannot bring myself to support the whole, keep me (as a PS3 user) waiting a year for your DLC and I'll still support you and tell you it's fucking fine to do that to me because i'll buy it anyway.

I want to play these but I cannot condone the exclusivity deal.

Had they come out at the same time I would have snapped them up (would probably still be playing GTA4 at that time too)

And it was funny watching the respect levels plummet when you go on murder sprees.

@BigMoose - I would but I have too many other games to play right now, I'm not that bothered. Plus I traded in GTA4 a long time ago in a galaxy far.... wait what?

Not sure if you only need the GTA4 disc to download it or whatnot, but fuck it I'm pretty done with GTA4 now.

If my buddy gets it, I'll perhaps borrow it from him.

I was hoping for a San Andreas style GTA to come to current gen, then i got my wish and it's even got a sweet Western theme to it! I <3 RDR.

Tempting, but I still haven't been able to force myself to beat the last mission of GTA IV proper, nor have I played through most of Chinatown Wars.

I enjoyed GTA4, but Episodes was even better in many respects. Gay Tony in particular is just awesome. I fixes many of GTA4's annoying bits and gives you some great over-the-top tools of destruction, which, combined with GTA4's physics engine and the detailed world of Liberty City, make for what is still the best open-world sandbox to cause chaos in.

Yep, I had more fun with TBoGT than I did with the entirety of GTA4. The missions were more consistently fun, and those new weapons were awesome. TLatD was a little meh in comparison, but still worth playing.

As far as I'm concerned, Gay Tony is a completely different game than GTAIV, and it's a billion times better.

I hate to do this, but I did just recently write a Review of this that didn't get much love.

I have to echo everyone's sentiment that the bite sized episodes worked alot better to make the story more concise and less confusing. Episodes From Liberty City works well because neither episode overstays it's welcome and combined they're both shorter than Grand Theft Auto IV.

Plus alot of shit happened in Niko's story that I have long forgotten, but for the most part (plus since I did beat both episodes recently) I can honestly remember everything from those. Plus I have to admit, The Ballad Of Gay Tony's story does rival Nikos (if not tops it) for awesomeness. The ending is a blast.

@ Sexual Chocolate

I'm pretty sure if you download them from the PSN you'll need the original Grand Theft Auto IV installed to play them. I can't confirm that though.

I ended up buying the disc'ed version with both episodes and it says on the back "You do not need Grand Theft Auto IV to play" so there you go.

I'd recommend them though cause like most have said The Ballad Of Gay Tony is really good, and depending on your feeling towards bikers, I think The Lost And Damned is pretty bad ass.
