...Nick, you must be thinking of another game. Guardian Heroes had 4 players, plus that walking golden armor thing. I just played it recently.
I'd prefer this on the PS3 though since I like the D-Pad better but I'm buying this no matter what.
Wasn't there a competitive mode where you could play as all the enemy characters? Thats probably what theyre referencing.
One of my favorite games of ever-ever-land. Goddamn, nobody does it up, past, present or future, quite like Treasure. They gave us Ikaruga on XBLA, they just gave us Bangai-O! yesterday...and now this.
I smell the imminent release of Radiant-Mother-Fucking-Silvergun.
If they end up pulling a Turtles in Time with this and go 3D instead of 2D that would be the biggest killjoy right there, HD graphics/live co-op or no.
I really do hope they manage to get this right.
Seriously, I want them to make sequels to a lot of their old-school games, because I've seen more current relevance from their titles in the past than I do a lot of other houses' current offerings. Castle Crashers, for as much as it evokes the feeling of TMNT arcade, still owes most of its gameplay nods to Guardian Heroes. Just about every Metal Slug game owes its existence to Gunstar Heroes. Every bullethell shooter got its comeuppance with Silvergun, and then doubly-so with Ikaruga.
They are masters of the craft, plain and simple.
Maybe it's as simple as Microsoft being the company that is interested in having these games on their digital service.
True, although I doubt Sony is adverse to releasing these games, they don't seem willing to go out of their way to secure them either. Also, I just remembered that digital content doesn't sell as well in Japan as other areas of the world and the 360 has a slightly larger presence outside of Japan too. Numbers seem to explain it pretty well after seeing all the pieces. Regardless, I can hardly wait, we just need an announce date for Radiant Silvergun as well...
Why do you think Sony wanted Castle Crashers AFTER it made Microsoft a fuckton of money? Sony's about sure bets, Microsoft's about gambles. This is why we see Kinect, games like Deathsmiles, and downloadable titles like Guardian Heroes, Nin2-Jump, Trigger Heart Excelica, and others.
After buying the shit out of Bangai-O HD yesterday, I wondered, as I met my death a thousand times over at the hands of more missiles than I could count, "What will Treasure do next?"
Dude, send a friend request to the Dtoid name on XBL, just as it's written here.
I'm ADD as a motherfucker, I won't remember to do that shit.
Hell, I haven't even checked my cblog post about mvc3 yet. Damn pregnancy making me have to build cribs and shit. :o)
But hey, if you could, a port for the PS3 owners (and future Wii2 owners) would be great... because really, these three games should be on just about every console that can run them.
Looking forward to this, hope Treasure decides to publish this and the Radiant Silvergun HD remake on Steam as well. XBLA is losing....STEAM. BUD-UM-BUM-TCH.
